英FRC、AIM上場会社の監査をめぐりグラント・ソントンを調査（economiaより）

FRC to investigate Grant Thornton over Globo audits

英国財務報告評議会（FRC）が、AIMに上場していたGlobo社（11月に経営破たん）の2013年度と2014年度の監査をめぐり、グラント・ソントンを調査すると発表したという記事。

The FRC has announced that it will investigate Grant Thornton over its audits of the financial statements of Globo for the years ended 31 December 2013 and 31 December 2014

グラント・ソントンは2014年はじめにBDOから同社の監査を引き継いでいました。

Globo entered into administration in November. Grant Thornton replaced BDO as auditors of the AIM-listed company in early 2014 and said in a statement today that it was seeking to establish what has happened to the business, and awaits the outcome of the administrators’ inquiries.

同社は、データが偽造され、会社の財務状況が虚偽記載だったことが明らかとなり、CEOとCFOが11月に辞任しました。

It has been a troubling year for the telecoms company. The CEO and CFO, Konstantinos Papadimitrakopoulos and Dimitris Gryparis, resigned in November after revelations that data had been falsified and the company’s financial situation had been misrepresented forced the company into administration.

辞任は、Globo社の売上の半分は「架空」であったと指摘した、Quintessential Capital Managementという会社の報告書が出た直後でした。

The resignations followed a report by Quintessential Capital Management, which claimed that more than half of the company’s turnover was “fabricated”.

Tyrie to FRC: Investigate KPMG（economia）

FRCに対して、そのような書簡を送ったのだそうです。監査プロセスの不備は深刻なものであり、KPMGが実施した監査をめぐる状況をFRCが徹底的に調査する必要があると述べています。

Andrew Tyrie, chair of the Treasury Select Committee (TSC), has written to the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) telling them to re-examine the role of auditors from Big Four firm KPMG in the collapse of HBoS

In the strongest terms, Tyrie instructed FRC chief executive Stephen Haddrill to set the wheels in motion for an investigation “without delay”.

“The shortcomings of the audit process were serious,” Tyrie said. “As a result, Parliament’s specialist advisers concluded that the circumstances surrounding the audit, conducted by KPMG, deserved thorough scrutiny by the FRC.
