EYスイス事務所のCEOが、セクハラ事件への対応を批判され、退任したという記事。

EY Switzerland has lost its chief executive following criticism of the firm’s handling of sexual harassment and bullying allegations made against a managing partner

Marcel Stalder has resigned his post to focus on his role as market leader for Germany, Switzerland and Austria which he has held since July 2016.

外部の法律事務所による調査が行われ、セクハラ事件を起こした名前の明らかになっていないマネージング・パートナーも事務所を去っています。

The unnamed managing partner left the firm last Friday, following an independent investigation by law firm Lenz & Staehelin.

そのパートナーは、昨年12月13日から停職処分を受けていたそうです。

In a statement, EY said that the partner – who had been suspended since 13th December – had now left the firm.

入手可能なすべての情報に基づき、外部法律事務所は、スイス法の下では、セクハラに該当しないが、不適切な行為であったと判断したそうです。そこで、そのパートナーは事務所を辞めることで、EYと合意しました。

“Based on all available information, the external law firm concluded that the facts do not qualify as sexual harassment under Swiss law,” it said.

“However, the external law firm also found the partner’s behaviour to be inappropriate. As a consequence, EY Switzerland and the partner agreed that he will leave the firm.”

CEOの辞任は、女性ジュニア・アソシエイトによる告発に対して、EYが行動を起こさなかったことをマスコミに批判されたことによるものです。被害者の女性は、問題のマネジング・パートナーが、彼女の身体について不適切な発言をし、性的な誘いかけを行い、彼女がそれを拒絶すると、いじめを行ったと訴えましたが、その後しばらくして、事務所を退職しました。

Stalder’s resignation as CEO came in the wake of mounting criticism in the Swiss press over EY’s lack of action over allegations made by a female junior associate. She accused the managing partner of making inappropriate remarks about her breasts, making sexual advances and bullying her when she turned him down. She left the firm shortly afterwards.

報道によると、このパートナーは、内部調査は受けたものの、事務所にとどまっていました。

According to reports, the partner faced an internal inquiry but remained at the firm and in his job.

しかし、その情報がスイスのマスコミに漏れ、告発団体がキャンペーンをはじめました。そこで、ドイツ、スイス、オーストリアを担当するEYのリージョナル・マネージング・パートナー（女性）が介入し、外部の独立した調査を行ったとのことです。

However, after the case was leaked to the Swiss press – including the influential Tages-Anzeiger – and a Swiss whistleblowing organisation launched a poster campaign, Julie Linn Teigland, EY’s regional managing partner for Germany Switzerland and Austria, stepped in.

On the back of new information about the allegations, she suspended the partner and commissioned the independent investigation that led to his departure.

不祥事疑惑発生→内部的にうやむやに解決→マスコミにリーク→事件化→上部組織の介入と再調査、というどの国でもありそうなパターンだったようです。
