栄養補助食品（サプリメント）を使う人は年々増えているようですが、食べ物で摂取できるものは出来るだけ食べ物で摂取したいというのが私の考え方です。

というのも、サプリメントがターゲットにしている栄養素、たとえばビタミンEとかカルシウムだけで出来ているのならば問題はないのですが、サプリメントという錠剤にする時点で色々な添加物が使われているからです。

もちろんこれらの添加物は厚生労働省で認可されたものですが、これを安全と見なすかどうかは人によるのではないでしょうか。私は…やめときます。

上記のような例では複数形で用いることに注意。

tenacious

try to ～とtry ～ingの違いについて、ネイティブに聞いたところ、ほとんど意味に違いはないそうです。

でもtry ～ingと言った場合、必ず達成できなかったことに言及しており、↑の例文では炎を消そうとしたが消せなかったということを含意しています。

実際にその後で

と続いています。

もし↑の例文がtry to douseになっていた場合、その試みが失敗したかどうかについてはわからないままです。成功する可能性も含意しています。

これはstop to smokeやstop smokingに通じるものがあるのでしょうか。
