TWICE's original Japanese single exceeds 200,000 copies..1st place on Oricon chart for 5 days

Girl group TWICE's first original Japanese single has maintained its No. 1 position on Oricon daily single ranking for 5 days, and is counting down to 200,000 copies.

Their debut best album "#TWICE" released on June 28th exceeded 270,000 copies in sales and was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of Japan. The single has also entered the countdown to exceed 200,000 copies in 5 days, proving the TWICE boom in Japan.

TWICE's first original Japanese single "One More Time" released on the 18th has sold 14,146 copies in the 5th day since its release, and is currently No. 1 on Oricon daily single ranking as of the 21st.
On the day of release, the album sold 94,957 copies, on the second day 43,412 copies, on the third day 20,364 copies, and on the fourth day 18,278 copies. With these numbers, the album maintained its position at the top of the charts for the fifth day. In particular, the total sales volume was 191,157 copies, and it is on the verge of surpassing 200,000 copies.

In Korea, the group will make a comeback on the 30th with the lead (title) song "Likey" from their first full album "Twicetagram," aiming for their sixth consecutive popularity. Prior to this, the group's first original single in Japan continued their record-breaking march and reaffirmed their top position, further increasing the atmosphere for their comeback.

In less than a week since its release, the original single "One More Time" is likely to sell 200,000 copies.

Even TWICE fans probably didn't expect it to sell this well.
200,000 copies in less than a week... In a world where digital music has become overwhelmingly dominant, TWICE is probably the first foreign artist to have an analog CD sell so fast.

In the Japanese music market, boy bands like BIGBANG and EXO, as well as Western artists like Lady Gaga and Beyonce, are well known, but I don't get the impression that they are selling as much as TWICE.

Idol groups don't just perform on stage to make money, they also hold events like high-five sessions, so some people think it's wrong to simply compare them to singers who just sing on stage.

Perhaps it's because there is a difference in quality and dignity, so it's not worth comparing.

The music industry also rises and falls depending on sales. It is a business that is no different from any other industry. Whether you hold handshake events and sell CDs, or put studio-recorded CDs on the shelves and sell them without ever appearing in front of the fans, I don't think there is any difference in rank or low.

So whether you hold handshake events and sell CDs, or sell them in whatever way, the value of each sale is the same.
After an event is held, the staff gets to work, the venue functions well, and merchandise sells. Fans are happy to shake hands with their favorite members, and hearing the fans' cheers gives the members a sense of fulfillment and encouragement. All of this is directly connected to the energy of the industry itself.
In the end, it turns out that idols are the aces and fourth batters who make the most money in the music industry.

The long-awaited dome concert looks set to go smoothly around the beginning of next year, and it feels like TWICE's record-breaking run has already begun.
