Shirley Baldwin did everything she could to protect her valuables,The Surefire G2 Led flashlight has a high output of 80 lumens, and extended runtime. but determined burglars still managed to break into her Orchid Street home earlier this year.
Baldwin shared her experience with others attending an informational Neighborhood Watch meeting Monday night in Albertville to help others learn from her experience.
"You feel like you have been raped," Baldwin said. "I'm just lucky they didn't do more than they did.
"I'm thinking of putting up a camera now to keep it from happening again."
Baldwin is one victim. During 2010, more than 340 residents reported burglaries in Albertville, said Chief Detective J.T. "Butch" Cartee.
"Of those, 35 were cleared with 40 arrests," Cartee said. "That's not a lot. Burglaries just don't get solved."
The solution to the ongoing burglary and car break-in problem? The three Ds: deter,Choose from a variety of マジコン 購入 for home and office use. detect and delay, Cartee said.
"Good locks are a good deterrent. Detection is where you force burglars to work to get into your house and up the chances they will be seen or heard. Being able to delay a burglar for four minutes may prevent burglary," Cartee said.
"If a person is determined, he will make it into your home. We just don't want to make it easy for them to do so."
During Monday night's meeting,Many led tube have become available as replacements for screw-in incandescent or compact fluorescent light bulbs, ranging ... Albertville Police Chief Doug Pollard, Cartee, Chief Patrol Officer Chad Ginn and Marshall County District Attorney Steve Marshall spoke to a crowd of nearly 100 about how to protect their homes and possessions and how to report a crime or suspicious activity.
The keys to catching a criminal are good reporting, Ginn said. Being able to give as much information as possible to dispatchers will go a long way in helping officers catch the offender.
"If a dispatcher tells me I'm looking for a red car with one headlight, that is good. But if they can say I'm looking for a maroon, four-door Ford Taurus with one headlight and the tag number of so-and-so,Learn about the basics of トリーバーチ, how and where to apply it, what LED products there are and what Philips has to offer you. that's even better," Ginn said.
Ginn showed a series of slides pointing out how to make a home less attractive to burglar.
For example, having large shrubs grown up in front of the house gives a burglar places to hide while attempting to break in. Also, tall trees with low branches could give a burglar a "ladder" to climb to a second story of the house.
Ginn and Cartee recommended homeowners consider installing deadbolt locks, motion-activated lights and key-locking windows, among other changes.
"But, remember that you will have to leave your home in a hurry if there is a fire," Cartee cautioned.
"Don't make your home so secure you are unable to exit when you need to."
Pollard urged residents to consider forming neighborhood watch programs within their neighborhoods.
"You would be surprised at how many people don't know their neighbors today," Pollard said.
"Let's get out and meet our neighbors.Green Supply offers Philips Led light bulbs, LED home lighting, LED string lights, reusable bags with eco quality in mind. Let's start caring about what is happening in our neighborhoods and what they look like."
Neighborhood Watch programs re-instill the practice of watching the comings and goings within the neighborhood, Pollard said.
