今朝、届いていたSDPからのメールでのお知らせは…

 

 

We've received overwhelmingly positive response from our members about the 2013 Conference, and reservations at Pheasant Run and exhibitor spaces are filling quickly. We know that many of our members need to plan their trip as early as possible, and in an effort to accommodate those preparing for the May event, we will be opening Conference registration one month earlier than originally planned.

2013年カンフェレンスについて会員の皆様から圧倒的に肯定的な反応を頂き、フェザントラン(ホテル)への予約と出展ブースの予約は急速に埋まってきています。メンバーの多くができるだけ早く旅を計画する必要があることを理解し、5月のイベントの準備を手助けするために、当初の予定より1ヶ月早く、カンフェレンスのレジストレーションの受付を開始することにしました。

The Conference Special now will be available online mid-November, and class registration will open December 3. Mark your calendar now for December 3, so you can be one of the first to register online!

カンフェレンススペシャル(本)、11月中旬にオンラインで利用できるようになり、クラスのも仕込み登録は12月3日に開始されます。スケジュール帳の12月3日に印を付け、オンライン登録の一番乗りをしましょう

Early-bird registrants paying with a credit card can choose to pay only half of the total cost when submitting their registration. The balance will automatically be charged to the same credit card the week of March 11, 2013. Your credit card must be valid through May 2013. This payment plan is not available to registrants paying by check or money order, or to those registering after March 11, 2013.

早期登録者はクレジットカードでお支払いの際に、総費用の半分だけを支払うことを選択することができます。残りの半分は、2013年3月11日の週に同じクレジットカードから自動的に引き落とされます。クレジットカードは2013年5月まで有効である必要があります。この支払いプランは、小切手またはマネーオーダー、または2013年3月11日後に登録する方には適用されません。

Conferense Special

今朝、届いたSDPからのメールはカンフェレンススペシャル(カンフェレンスの本)についてだよ♪

As noted in Issue #3 2012 of The Decorative Painter, the Conference Special will be published online this year in an expanded and interactive format, but will not be automatically mailed to members. We have received several questions from members about this, and would like to provide more information about the reasons for this decision.

DP2012年＃3に記載したように、Conference Special(カンフェレンスの本)は対話形式でオンラインで発行され(HP上で見られる)、メンバーに郵送されることはありません。メンバーからこの件に関して幾つかの質問が来ているので、この決定の理由についてのより詳しい情報をお伝えします。

Since the year 2000, SDP's membership levels have steadily decreased. At our height in 1999, we had over 28k members. As of now, we have 14k members. While it does appear that this trend may now be turning around, as early numbers for 2013 are looking very positive both in new and renewing members, this dramatic decrease over the last twelve years in membership has sharply cut our income, forcing us to make difficult decisions to ensure the continued existence of SDP.

2000年以来、SDPの会員数はは着実に減少しています。1999年の最盛期には28000人以上いた会員数が、現在では14000人になっています。この傾向が上向くとは思えません。2013年の早期メンバー登録の数字を見た場合には、新規メンバーや更新数は肯定的な状況のよう思えますが、過去12年間における会員数の劇的な減少が協会の収入を減らしていて、今回、SDPが存続することを確実にするために非常に難しい決定をしました。

The print world is changing rapidly, and we are forced to deal with these realities. With more media being presented online, paper costs, printing costs, and shipping costs have been rising consistently. The cost of printing the Conference Special for 2012 would have been between $17k and $20k. With less than 4% of our membership attending Conference, that makes the cost more than $25 per attendee, for just one piece of the Conference marketing. When this was revealed, it became clear that this was not a wise use of your membership fees, and we chose the online option, with the opportunity to purchase a PDF print out for $8 US or $12 international. The Conference Special is a part of the expenses of Conference, and we need to ensure that the event breaks even, as it is not fair to members who do not attend to pay for that with their membership dollars.

More than 80% of SDP Conference registration already occurs online. More than 90% of our members have registered email addresses, and we are positive that through email, our website, our social media, and the SDP Ambassadors the enhanced digital Conference Special will be far more effective as a marketing tool for the 2013 Conference.

カンファレンスへの登録の80％以上がすでにオンラインで行われています。我々のメンバーの90％以上がメールアドレスを登録していて、、電子メールやHP、その他のソーシャルメディアやSDPアンバサダー（FB上でのページ）を介してデジタル化したカンフェレンススペシャルの方がより効果的だと思っています。

When this was presented, the SDP Board of Directors carefully considered every option, including sending the Conference Special only to previous attendees, including it as a part of The Decorative Painter, and many others. In the end, providing an enhanced online piece was clearly the best option from both financial and marketing point of view.

この件が発表されたときは、SDPの役員会では慎重にすべての意見、前年度の参加者のみにカンフェレンススペシャルを送ると言うアイディア、DPの一部として掲載すると言うアイディア及びその他色々なアイディアを含めて検討しました。最終的な結論として、明らかにオンラインでの提供と言うことが費用的にもマーケティングの視点からも最良の選択だと言うことになりました。

We hope that you will understand the reasons for this, and that you will see the benefits of the expanded digital Conference Special, which will feature much larger photos of every project, and more information on classes, teachers, and events.

皆様がこの決定に至った理由を理解してくださることや、拡張されたデジタルでのカンフェレンススペシャルがより大きな作品写真、より詳しいクラス、講師やイベントの情報を提供出来ると言う利点を理解してくださることを願っています。

The Conference Special will be available online mid-November. If you would like a PDF print out, you may order one for $8 US domestic and $12 International from the SDP Offices. Conference registration forms will also be available in Issue #4 2012 of The Decorative Painter.

カンフェレンススペシャルは、11月中旬にはオンラインで利用できるようになります。もし、PDFプリントアウトを希望される場合は、1プリントに付きSDPオフィスからの米国国内へは8ドル、国外へは12ドルかかります。カンフェレンスへのレジストレーションフォーム（申込用紙）は2012DP＃4に添付されます。

SDPのアートコンテスト

そろそろニュースレターが届くころかな？

今回のニュースレターにはSDPが新たに開催するアートコンテストの応募用紙を同封して置きました(*^^)v

このコンテストはパンパードパレットと言う会社がスポンサーになり、SDPが公式に認めているコンテストですが、新たにデコアート社やMartin F/Weber社等がスポンサーになっています。応募費用は1作品あたり10ドルで、応募締め切りは12月17日の消印があるものです。一時の書類審査に通った方には、作品の送り方や引き取り方等詳しい情報が届きます。応募に当って、プロフェッショナル部門、ホビー部門、ビギナー部門がありますが、講師をしていたり、作品販売をしていたり、本やパケットを出されている方、MDA,CDA,TDAを含むSDPのプログラム、または他の団体による(たとえばJDPAとかサンケイの検定とか)プログラムに認定されているかたはプロフェッショナル部門になります。作品は新しいものでなくても、本人によって2011年6月１日以降に描かれた物ならOKです。作品のサイズはLength(長さ) ＋ Girth(周辺)＝330cmのボックスに梱包し送れる物です。他の人のデザインで応募される方は、デザイン者の許諾フォームも必要です。たとえば、ご自分の先生のデザイン作品で応募される方は、先生に許諾フォームを書いてもらってください。応募用紙への記入は、会員番号をきちんと記入していれば、日本語で大丈夫だそうです。美穂さんが担当しているので、安心です。皆で応募しませんか？
