Jaclynn being dressed in a traditional school uniform kimono by two kimono sensei
Today we had a Kimono wearing workshop at the university for international students. Two very nice teachers came and taught us how to wear kimono and the proper way to sit, stand, and bow in them. We got to see many different types of kimono from informal summer yukata to extremely formal (and extremely expensive) ceremonial kimono. I didn't volunteer to be a model (sorry, Jose ) but I had fun watching the process. The ceremonial kimono especially took a long time to put on. The obi has a complicated bow at the back that took both teachers to tie properly using different ropes and cloths to keep it in place. Kimono seem too complex to wear everyday but I was thinking they're also convenient in that you can loose and gain some weight and not have to buy new clothes

Btw, is the american girl on the middle wearing men pants? I think the right term is "hakama"
