マリア・シャラポワは肩の故障により、今週末にアメリカで行われるフェドカップのロシア代表の座を辞退した。
シャラポワはクズネツォワ、ペトロワ、チャクベターゼと共にロシア代表に選ばれており、出場していればロシア代表デビューだった。
来年の北京五輪に出場するためには、フェドカップでロシア代表として戦う必要があるが、次の機会に持ち越された。
シャラポワの辞退により、エレーナ・べスニナが代表に加わった。
またクズネツォワも肩のケガのためにプレイできそうもない状態という。
その場合はクドリャフツェワがメンバー入りする予定。キリたんじゃないんかい！(怒)
ロシアはアメリカと準決勝を戦う。
もう１つの準決勝はイタリアvs.フランス。
また来年のワールドグループ1部を決めるプレイオフも行われる。
組み合わせは下記の通りで、勝ったチームは来年1部でプレイする。

Russian star Maria Sharapova has pulled out of this weekend's Fed Cup semi-final against the USA.
The world number two, who has yet to make her debut in the team competition, has a shoulder injury and has been told to rest for 10 days by doctors.
Sharapova has been struggling with the problem for much of the current season and bowed out of Wimbledon at the last-16 stage last week.
She told her official website: "All the scans and tests show improvement in my shoulder but I still have a tremendous amount of swelling in the area.
"Since having another cortisone shot in 2007 is not an option for me, I need to monitor my shoulder at all times.
"The good news is that Russia still has an amazing team and I believe they will still have a very good chance to win the match."
Elena Vesnina replaces Sharapova in the squad - and further changes may be afoot.
Russian number two Svetlana Kuznetsova also has a shoulder problem and has been described as "a long shot" to play by team captain Shamil Tarpischev.
News is also awaited from the US camp who have nominated new Wimbledon champion Venus Williams and her sister Serena to play in the tie.
Venus' run in SW19 could mean she is fatigued, while Serena picked up hand and calf injuries at Wimbledon.
Meanwhile, Tarpischev's arrival in Vermont for the weekend's tie has been delayed by visa problems. He said he would report the matter to the International Tennis Federation.

WORLD No.2 Maria Sharapova has withdrawn from the Russia team to face the US in the Fed Cup semi-finals this weekend.
"She said she is injured so she will not play," Russia Fed Cup captain Shamil Tarpishchev said.
Sharapova, who was soundly beaten by eventual champion Venus Williams in the fourth round at Wimbledon last week, has been suffering from a persistent shoulder injury since April.
The US Open champion will be replaced in the Russia team by World No.58 Elena Vesnina.
Russia, the defending champion, may also lose world No.4 Svetlana Kuznetsova.
The 2004 US Open champion also has a nagging shoulder injury.
"Kuznetsova is a long shot," Tarpishchev said.
"If her shoulder improves in the next couple of days then she'll play."
World No.66 Alla Kudryavtseva has been put on standby to replace Kuznetsova.
Kudryavtseva, 19, took Venus Williams to three sets in the first round at Wimbledon before losing 2-6 6-3 7-5.
Nadia Petrova and Anna Chakvetadze, both ranked in the world top 10, make up the rest of the Russia team.
The Williams sisters, Venus and Serena, will lead the host nation, teaming with Lisa Raymond and Vania King.
