HINGIS COY ON SOL ROMANCE
Martina Hingis seems to have confirmed rumours that she and Arsenal defender Sol Campbell are an item.
Speaking to Schweizer Illustrierte magazine, the former world number one said: "I like Sol a lot.
"We see each other whenever possible, but he has many matches and I have my appointments as well.
"It is not easy for us both."
But asked if Campbell could be described as her "new love", Hingis responded: "That's too strong a word."
The pair were apparently introduced by Campbell's former Tottenham team-mate Ramon Vega at an Adidas publicity launch in October.
Since then, they are said to have enjoyed a number of dinner dates before they both attended the launch of the United Nations 'Year of Sport' in December.
Hingis, 24, has been single since splitting from Swiss restauranteur Stefan Egger while 30-year-old Campbell recently ended his relationship with interior designer Kelly Hoppen.
ZABALETA FUMING AT GONZALEZ
Argentina's Mariano Zabaleta hit out at Fernando Gonzalez after he lost to the Chilean in Vina del Mar.
Zabaleta accused Gonzalez of encouraging his home crowd to turn against his opponent.
"He broke the codes of tennis, because you can't do what he did," Zabaleta told Argentine news agency Telam.
"There's no need to generate violence or the resentment of the public against a visitor to win a match."
LLEYTON DEFENDS WHIRLWIND ROMANCE
Lleyton Hewitt has spoken for the first time about his relationship with Aussie soap star Bec Cartwright.
Eyebrows were raised when Hewitt proposed to the Home and Away actress after just six week together.
But Hewitt told New Idea magazine: "I've probably put up with more criticism than a lot of people out there. At the end of the day, you block out everything, especially with your personal life.
"What feels right to you, you don't second guess yourself. For us, it just felt so awesome right from the start."
Hours after losing in the Australian Open final, Hewitt poppped the question with a Tiffany diamond ring but said he did not get down on one knee because he was too sore.
Hewitt added: "I knew it was going to happen that night. I just thought the timing was right.
"It would have been great to have had the Australian Open trophy too, to make it that little more special, but I won the biggest prize.
"I lost the match, but I won the girl."
CLIJSTERS BOUNCES BACK
Hewitt's engagement to Cartwright came three months after he and fellow tennis star Kim Clijsters decided to call off their marriage, which had been planned for February.
But if a report in Belgium's Who magazine is to be believed, Clijsters has also set about getting over the break-up.
The former world number one is apparently seeing fellow Belgian Luc Opdelocht - a model and former Mr Limburg (a region in Belgium) 2000.
Clijsters has been battling to overcome a wrist injury but plans to make her long-awaited return to the court in February.
