World number three Maria Sharapova sprained her ankle Wednesday during practice in Mexico for an exhibition match against Argentina's Gisela Dulko. The Florida-based Russian was in Monterrey to promote her line of perfume. There's no word on the seriousness of the sprain.
According to organisers, the injury will not prevent her from concluding her promotional tour in a shopping centre in the south of the country next Sunday.

From Tennisnews.com: "Maria Sharapova, in Los Angeles practicing on clay for two tennis exhibitions in Mexico on April 28 and 29, injured her right foot Monday and has been told she cannot play tennis for five to seven more days. "An MRI showed that Maria has inflammation in her right metatarsal joint with associated soft tissue swelling of the posterior tibialis insertion. She will recover fully, but cannot play tennis for the next few days," according to Dr. Mark Lindsay, the soft tissue specialist who examined her after the injury this week. He expects her to be able to begin practicing by next week, and she plans to compete at the Italian Open in Rome the week of May 15."
