ソラナ氏、ジラニ氏、松本氏がヒューマン・ライツ・ウォッチ新理事に
(London, January 27, 2011) – The Spanish diplomat and politician Javier Solana, the Pakistani human rights activist Hina Jilani, and the Japanese investment banker Oki Matsumoto have joined Human Rights Watch’s board of directors, Human Rights Watch said today.

ヒューマン・ライツ・ウォッチは、新しい理事会のメンバーとして、スペインの外交官・政治家のジャビエール・ソラナ氏、パキスタンの人権活動家であるヒナ・ジラニ氏、そして日本のインベストメント・バンカーである松本大氏を迎えたことを本日発表した。
“We're delighted that such extraordinarily accomplished people are joining in our work to investigate and expose human rights abuses around the globe,” said James F. Hoge Jr., chair of Human Rights Watch’s Board of Directors. “As we pressure governments to protect the rights of all, we will benefit greatly from their counsel and their influence.”

Javier Solana, president of the ESADE Center for Global Economy and Geopolitics, spent 10 years as the European Union’s High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy. As secretary-general of NATO, he negotiated the NATO-Russia Act and presided over the establishment of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. Prior to that, he held several positions in the Spanish government, including minister of foreign affairs.
ジャビエール・ソラナ氏は「世界経済＆地政学のためのESADEセンター」の代表であるとともに、EUの共通外交・安全保障政策上級代表を10年にわたり務めていた。北大西洋条約機構（NATO）事務総長として、氏はロシア・NATO協力協定（NATO-Russia Act）の交渉にあたるとともに欧州・大西洋パートナーシップ理事会（Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council, 略称： EAPC）を取り仕切った。氏はそれ以前、スペイン政府の外務大臣を含む要職を歴任している。
Hina Jilani is a well-known lawyer and human-rights activist in Pakistan, and a founder of the nongovernmental Human Rights Commission of Pakistan and of the Women's Action Forum. From 2000 to 2008, she was the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders, and in 2006, she was appointed to the UN International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur.
ヒナ・ジラニ氏は、パキスタンで著名な弁護士・人権保護活動家であり、非政府団体であるパキスタン人権委員会（Human Rights Commission of Pakistan）及びウィメンズ・アクション・フォーラム（Women's Action Forum）の創設者でもある。2000年から2008年まで彼女は人権擁護者に関する国連事務総長特別代表（United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Human Rights Defenders）を務め、2006年にはダルフールに関する国連国際調査委員会（UN International Commission of Inquiry on Darfur）に指名されている。
Oki Matsumoto is the CEO and founder of Monex Group, Inc., a major online financial services group, and helped to launch Human Rights Watch’s Tokyo office in 2009. He currently serves as an external board member of the Tokyo Stock Exchange Group, Inc., Shinsei Bank, Ltd, and Kakaku.com, Inc. He has also held various public positions including a member of Board of Governors of Japan Securities Dealers Association.
松本大氏は、オンライン金融サービス会社大手のマネックスグループ株式会社の創設者で代表取締役社長CEO。氏は、ヒューマン・ライツ・ウォッチが2009年に東京事務所を設立するにあたり、多大な貢献をした。現在、株式会社東京証券取引所グループ、株式会社新生銀行、株式会社カカクコムなどの社外取締役を務める他、日本証券業協会理事をはじめとする様々な公的役職も歴任している。
