Walk out on someone （人）のもとを去る、（人）を見捨てる

Topic : Walk out on someone .この意味はなんでしょうか?


This means :

To suddenly End your relationship with someone or something .

Examples :

She walked out on her husband and her 2 sons after being married for almost 10 years .

walk out on a marriage 離婚する Or 結婚を破棄する

In this case ,
a Man or a woman leaves the partner and never comes back .

SO , in this situation , A person ( wife , husband , boyfriend or a girlfriend ) goes away and in most cases won't come back .

That's when we use this phrses to say :

She walked out on him ... or

He walked out on his family and left them forever .

No News , so Signs of him or her ,since then , No phone calls ,... Just gone away quietly.

Why Are Native Speakers Hard to Understand? (どうしてネイティブスピーカーの英語はわかりにくいの？）

英語を勉強している人は、たいてい「ネイティブスピーカー同士の話がわかりにくい」と思うのではないでしょうか？
それには、いくつか理由があると思います。

English learners usually find it hard to understand native speakers.
Understanding the reasons behind this would help speed up the learning process.

はじめに、ネイティブが話をするとき、音をつなげてはなします。そのため文章が短くなります。
例えば、"They are here." becomes "They're here."
英語学習者がこのような音や文法の構造にあまり馴染みがない場合、 "their", "there", or "they're"　の区別がつかないと思います。
この３つの音は同じだからです。

２つめの理由としては、母音にあります。音がおなじでも、意味が違うからです。
例えば　"than" vs. "then"

3つめの理由は、いつくかの英語はたの言語に存在しないからです。

最後に重要なことは、ネイティブはスラングやイデオムをよく使うことです。
学習者がこのような表現を勉強していないと、たぶんネイティブ同士の会話を理解することは難しいでしょう。

First of all, natives link shounds together when they speak.
As a result, the sentence gets shortened.

For example, "They are here." becomes "They're here."

If a non-native learner is unfamiliar with the grammar structures and hears this, he may wonder if the native is saying "their", "there", or "they're". Because when a native speaks fast enough, these 3 sound the same.

The second main reason English learners find natives hard to understand is the large number of vowels. Some English vowels sound similar, yet changing the vowel changes the meaning of a word.

For example, "than" vs. "then".

Thirdly, some English sounds do not exist in other languages.

For instance, there are no such sounds as "F", "V", or "R" in Japanese.
So it's very difficult for Japanese people to make these sounds.
If a person cannot produce the sound, it becomes difficult for him to pick up that sound when listening.

Last but not the least, natives use slangs and idioms in their speech.
If a non-native hasn't learned the expression, he won't understand it when he hears it in a conversation.

I'll get should be I'll have or can I have?

私はカナダの西部に住んでいます。
ファーストフード店やレストランでよく聞くこの言い方　"I'll get the.........".　少しうんざりします。
最近のはやりなのでしょうか？

10年前まで、皆さん正しく使っていた注文の仕方は
I'll have, or can I have.

"I'll get the.........".　　このような言い方はをするのは、この辺り（カナダ西部）だけなのでしょうか？

 
I live in western Canada.

One thing I get so tired of hearing at fast food order counters and restaurants is  "I'll get the.........". It's like an epidemic.
Everywhere I go, fast food, convenience, restaurants, I hear I'll get the Big Mac etc.

Until 10 years ago people use the correct request,

I'll have, or can I have.

What happened? If they say, I'll get, it means that they will get what they want themselves.

If I was the waiter I would say, “no you can't get it but I can get it for you and you can have it"! 

 Example:

A: Can I help you sir?

B: Yes I'll get the Big Mac...

It should be I'll have a Big Mac!

 Is this a problem only in Western Canada?

As I’m sure you have heard, and perhaps seen, there was a meteorite that hit Russia and injured thousands, here’s a recap of the event below.

“A meteorite exploded above central Russia on Friday morning.

It was just like a scene from a science fiction movie. People watched the bright, swimming pool-sized rock fly across the sky and then crash.

It entered the Earth's atmosphere and looked like a giant shooting star.
The power of the explosion damaged many buildings and smashed thousands of windows.

The city of Chelyabinsk had no gas or Internet for a short time after the meteor shower came down.

Thousands of people went to hospital for medical treatment. Many of them had cuts from flying glass. They did not know the shock wave from the explosion would be so dangerous and cause so much damage.

The Russian army found three giant holes in the earth where different parts of the meteorite hit the ground. One crater was six metres wide.

The craters were 80 km apart. Investigators are checking the sites of where the meteorites came down to see if they are radioactive.

The police have sealed off the areas to protect the public. Scientists working at the site said the meteor was mostly rock and iron.

They said it is the largest meteorite to hit the Earth for over 100 years.

NASA estimated that the meteor weighed around 7,000 tons and exploded with the power of 20 atomic bombs. Russian newspapers say that some people are now trying to sell rocks from the meteorite for $15 each.”

Silent "H" in English

Silent "H" in English   サイレントＨ

There are many silent letters in English words. "H" is one of them. It is not pronounced at the beginning of some words. Here are a few examples:

英単語にはいくつか発音しない文字があります。Ｈもその１つです。

サイレントＨ　のある単語は、例えば以下の単語です。

hour
herb
honor
honest

When you use the article with these words, use "an", as in "an honest person" and "an hour".
