Fractional CO2 Laser Guide

Fractional or "pixelated" carbon dioxide (CO2) lasers are among the latest advances in the treatment of non-surgical skin regeneration. CO2 lasers have the longest wavelengths of all lasers on the market and can be used safely on darker skin types and make appropriate adjustments in the settings.

Fractional CO2 Laser equipment are good at treating deeper wrinkles, more severe texture changes, sun damage, wrinkles, spots, acne scars, and surgical or traumatic scars. It can be used around the delicate eyelids and mouth. It is also a very effective treatment for sun damage and precancerous growth (actinic keratoses - please note that insurance will not cover this).

Fractional CO2 laser treatment

It can be used to improve the texture, wrinkles, and spots on the neck, chest, arms, and legs, but this can only be done by specialists because of the high risk of complications (including scars) at these sites.

What does it not do? It does not take care of redness including vasodilation (telangiectasia) or discoloration of red spots on the poikiloderma. For the time being, it may even make these problems look worse because laser treatment itself will cause redness. For red and vein problems, medical (non-Salon) grade IPL or pulsed dye lasers such as Candela are more effective.

So it is important to choose which CO2 fractional laser  system. How do you know as a consumer? First, find a reputable cosmetic dermatologist or plastic surgeon . Good equipment will not help you in the hands of incompetence!
