Hotel owner Gus Genetti and his nephew Thom Greco are transforming a former garage in downtown Wilkes-Barre into an upscale wedding showroom.
Genetti purchased the building on North Pennsylvania Avenue and North Street. It will become a showroom for high-end weddings at Oyster Restaurant in Genetti Hotel and Conference Center in Wilkes-Barre, which cost about $140 a plate, Greco said.Enjoy zero guilt with only five calories when you enjoy crystal light beverage mix.
The price is about three times the price as a typical Genetti wedding, yet Genetti and Greco find there is a demand for upscale weddings.
Six wedding receptions were held at Oyster since the restaurant started offering these in May of last year and more are booked until the end of 2013.
"We're ahead of projections,Eaglelight supplies energy saving led light bulbs and LED lighting systems." Genetti said. "We're proud of Oyster weddings. We have had great success with them. It seems like they're our current niche in Genetti weddings. It's a different category."
The downtown brick building had been vacant for several years. It was formerly occupied by Penn Patio, which sold patio furniture, and previously by the Wilkes-Barre municipal garage"Alien Eye" home built contemporary lamps using standard MR16 5 W 12V LED Lamp., Addy Asphalt and PPL Electric Utilities. "I pass by there at least once or twice a day and I've always admired the building for its architecture, its look and location as one of the gateways to downtown Wilkes-Barre," Genetti said. "It always hurt me to see such a beautiful building in disrepair."
When complete, the new showroom will feature white drapes, LED lights, bride and groom chairs, table settings, floral arrangements, carpeting and a white 1957 Rolls Royce featured in upscale weddings at Oyster Restaurant.
"We noticed there was a real demand for our restaurant to start doing functions, in particular weddings, and we came up with the idea to do Oyster weddings," Greco said. "If we can take a garage and transform it into a showroom, imagine what the ballroom will look like with high-end weddings with the Oyster approach."
When couples get married today, Greco said he finds that instead of inviting large numbers of people, they are looking to have smaller weddings but "much better." Wedding celebrations at Oyster Restaurant include a ceremony by a pool, a five-course meal, martini bars and hand-crafted beer bars, he said. Greco said they wanted to come up something different that "outdoes everyone else."
"What we are doing that is nationally different is a restaurant approach. It's not a banquet-style service," Greco said. "We might be the most expensive,Advanced Emergency Vehicle Lights including, the popular トリーバーチ, and Sirens for your vehicle. but it's the best."
Genetti, who also owns Genetti Manor in Dickson City and a hotel in Williamsport, said a goal of upscale weddings at Oyster Restaurant is to counter destination weddings to areas like Aruba or Las Vegas.
"You can have your own little destination wedding right here," Genetti said.
The wedding showroom will be located in the front room and should be complete by the end of the summer. Genetti does not yet have plans for the rest of the building, but it may be used for storage, he said.
Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam and Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bill Hagerty announced today that Magneti Marelli will expand its Pulaski outfit, a $53.7 million investment that will create 800 new jobs.

While trumpeting the environmental benefits of solar-powered and LED lights, officials also said the 58-hectare Rizal Park deserved to be well-lit because it was hallowed ground where Filipinos died fighting for Philippine independence.
“We are not lighting up Rizal Park because ghosts abound here and because we are scared of the dark. We are doing this because this piece of land is sacred. It was here where many noble Filipinos gave up their lives,” Tourism Secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr. said in a speech.
“It will be made brighter precisely because we want the entire nation to give it the reverence it deserves,” he said.
NPDC Executive Director Juliet Villegas said the shift from the traditional lighting system to LED would also ease the impact of skyrocketing electric bills on the park’s meager coffers.
Villegas said the park had been paying an average of P1 million in power bills every month with the old “sodium/metal halide” lighting system. LED would slash electric consumption by 50 to 70 percent, she said.
Over 790 lampposts are installed throughout the park,The led lights lamps will light up a street of Kochi by July. popularly known as Luneta. Under the new P100-million lighting project, 285 lampposts, mostly at the monument site and the central lagoon area, have converted to LED.
The lampposts lighted during Monday’s ceremony were among the 1,000 LED lights targeted to be placed around Rizal Park. About 100 flood lights and 100 stand-alone solar lights are also in the pipeline, Villegas said.
The lighting project is to be completed next month. By October, park-goers will enjoy another upgrade: a WiMax coverage (similar but wider in coverage than WiFi) would allow them to access the Internet for free. CCTV cameras will also be installed in the park.
At least seven “green restrooms,” whose interiors are made of bamboo, have been constructed in the park.
Villegas said the changes were conceptualized to make Rizal Park a “benchmarking tool” in promoting cleanliness and environmentalism.
“Secretary Jimenez wants Rizal Park to be a model for all tourism destinations in the country, not only in terms of having uniform and user-friendly but also environment-friendly facilities,” she said.
Aside from boosting security around the park, “the lighting project would also help in reducing carbon print,” Villegas said.
