Escapee captured in Hercules woman's car

A person wanted for breaking out of prison in Southern California and presumably trying to eliminate a Los Angeles County deputy sheriff was charged Wednesday along with his wife in Seattle while driving a stolen from a Hercules woman slain in her home last week, specialists said.

Darnell Washington, 24, and his wife, Tania Washington, 25, are now being held on suspicion of possessing a stolen car. So far, they have maybe not been implicated in the killing of Susie Ko, 55, Hercules police said.

"Our detectives are likely to be en route to communicate with them," said Officer Connie Van Putten, a police spokeswoman.

The Washingtons were found sitting in Ko's 2011 Subaru Outback parked near Seattle-Tacoma Airport Terminal, police said. A police officer ran the car's Washington license plate and found it had been already stolen, according to the King County sheriff's office. Authorities consider the suspects place the dish on Ko's Subaru, which formerly had Idaho license plates.

Tania Washington, who was behind the wheel, sped off while the officer approached around 9 a.m., authorities said.
