Diff'rent Strokes star Gary Coleman critical after fall

ACTOR Gary Coleman has been admitted to hospital in Utah following a fall and is reportedly in a critical condition.

The Diff'rent Strokes star, 42, was transported to the hospital from his home yesterday, TMZ reported today.

Coleman’s brother-in-law told TMZ the actor suffered a head injury.

CBC reports he has undergone emergency surgery.

A spokesperson from the Utah Valley Regional Medical Centre said Coleman was admitted to the Provo facility but she couldn’t release any other details.

"We're just getting bits and pieces right now, so there's really nothing to report," Coleman's manager told E! News.

Coleman's Utah attorney, Randy Kester, has been in text message communication with Coleman's wife, Shannon Price, but the family did not want to release any additional details.

"Anything they could say would be premature because they don't know the full extent of his condition right now," Coleman's lawyer told the Associated Press.

However Shannon Price and her father released a statement asking for prayers,  "we hope those prayers are answered and that Gary will be able to recover and return home soon."

Coleman was admitted to hospital in January and again in February after suffering seizures.

The actor suffers from a congenital Panerai kidney disease which stunted his growth and led to his small stature (1.42 m or 4 ft 8 in).

He has undergone two kidney transplants, one in 1973 and one in 1984, and requires daily dialysis according to  the AP.

Last year the actor had heart surgery that Fake ELLETIME Watch was complicated by pneumonia.

The star is best known for his role as Arnold Jackson in the American sitcom Diff'rent Strokes which aired between 1978 and 1986.

In the hugely successful show he played a boy adopted by a wealthy white widower and was well loved for his character's catchphrase "What choo talkin' 'bout Willis?".

The role mirrored his own life - he himself was adopted.

Since the show he has regularly courted controversy. He famously sued his parents for allegedly misappropriating money he earned from the show.

While he earned up to $US100,000 per episode of the show he Fake U-Boat Watches was left with up to only a quarter of that after his parents, lawyers and advisors took a share.

Despite being awarded $US1.3 million in 1993 he filed for bankruptcy in 1999.

Coleman pleaded guilty earlier this year on charges relating to a 2009 domestic assault, follow up hearings in this case have recently been delayed due to Coleman's ill health.

In 1998 he was charged with punching a woman.
