CX Swiss Military Watchs 20,000 FEET: Keeping Time in Any Condition

Originally introduced at Basel World 2009 it was officially announced on October 6th that the 20 000 FEET by CX Swiss Military Watch has indeed gone into a limited production run of 1000 pieces. The watch certainly has created some buzz online due to its outrageous ability to withstandWell just about everything.

The 20 000 FEET is a follow up to CXs 2005 world record breaking offering of the 12 000 FEET. What possible reason would CX have for besting a piece of their own design? You guessed it in 2008 a competitors watch beat the depth record that was originally held by the 12 000 FEET. Though to create a piece that was a record breaker was only part of their plan; they wanted to the watch to be functional legible and once again contain a mechanical chronograph movement (COSC certified Valjoux 7750). The technical team had to develop a tank that was capable of simulating the conditions that would equal the pressure of an 800 bar (8 000 meter) dive. One particular area that caused a problem was finding a proper way to affix the 10mm thick (that is not a typo) sapphire crystal to the titanium case. Prototypes for the 20 000 FEET started to appear in late 2008 and the rigorous testing soon followed.

When viewing the watch head on it honestly doesnt look too remarkable. It kind of comes across as just another sports diver with a chronograph movement lume in the right places and legibility literally written all over its dial. Its when the watch is viewed from the side that it really makes its statement. Clocking in at a whopping 28.5mm thick this beast will most certainly have a presence on the wrist. Dont let the fact that its 46mm monster case is made from titanium fool you the watch weighs in at a hefty 265 grams (for a point of reference a Breitling Super Avenger chronograph weighs just under 154 gramsand thats a pretty substantial watch). I for one cannot wait to see a variety of photos of this thing on a wearers wrist.

I know what youre thinking its a gimmick something designed to garner CX some attention and though part of me agrees with that presumption its obvious that CX wants this to be a functional diver. The overall design of the watch says take me under water roger dubuis automatic replica deeeeeep under water. Bulova Accutron Conqueror

Have a look at this new watch from Bulova the Accutron Conqueror. The watch is inspired by the famous Lone Eagle timepiece (see below) created by Bulova to commemorate Colonel Charles A. Lindberghs monumental solo non-stop flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1927. GHOST of a Chance

GHOST is closing its doors today and as a last hurrah is offering everything at 50% off. GHOST is a fun and innovative store. My favorite tights are GHOSTs prison tights. They are available on OnRez. One of my favorite freebies from OnRez is GHOSTs Dirty Snow. So to say goodbye to GHOST I wore this Lag Fade top and mini-skirt from GHOST. I paired it with tights from Bijou and shoes from Armidi and added some cute jewelry from Bliensen. For full disclosure I must point out that the jewelry are review copies and different from my usual style but I thought they were perfect for this out. You can seem lots more pics on my Flickr because I was trying a bunch of different Windlight settings on the skin to see how it responded to light.

In this photo you can get a close look at the Bliensen & Maitai jewelry. The choker and earrings are made with bottle caps. The longer necklace has 8 charms on it and handily attaches at another point allowing you to wear both without adjusting. I think its pretty obvious if you have followed this blog at all that I am a Laqroki skin fan. As a photographer I have come to trust the skin its luminous and natural. I generally wear Amy but have been looking for a good very pale but not powdered skin for a long time. Skin that while pale still has that light-reflecting luminosity I have come to expect from Laqroki. When I saw the Lydia skin at Laqroki I was hopeful that finally I would find the kind of pale but rich skin i was looking for.

In reviewing the Lydia skin I focused on my personal priorities when judging a skin. First do I like the face? Oh yes I do! Are the face and body the same color or to but in more clearly does the complexion shift abruptly where the neck and head join and they clearly dont as you can see in the above photo.
