SWISS master Roger Federer stormed into the third round with a clinical 6-1 6-3 6-2 win over hapless Italian Fabio Fognini at Wimbledon today.
The world no 3 was in superb touch as his campaign to win a record-equalliing seventh Wimbledon gathered momentum.
Federer took only 23 minutes to sweep the first set 6-1, showcasing his sublime skills, imperious shot-making and wonderful touch.
He made eight approaches to the net in the first set and won them all.
Federer continued his dominace over his opponent in the second set, winning it 6-3 in 30 minutes.
He won 14 of his 15 first serves in, slamming down six aces.
Federer, winner of an all-time record 16 Grand Slams, maintained the pressure in the third set, winning it 6-2 in just 24 minutes to move into the third round.
