How do sterilant work?

Most of the sterilizing treatments used by Paragon are aimed at killing the contaminants present in the media used. There are different ways in which the contaminants can be killed.

 

✦ Changing the permeability of cell membrane:

The plasma membrane present inside the cell membrane of the contaminant is the target of sterilizing agents, as it is responsible for the exchange of nutrients in the cell and removal of wastes. The sterilizing agents used, cause disturbance to the plasma membrane that leads to improper exchange of nutrients and leakage of the cell components leading to death of the contaminant.

 

✦ Destroying the proteins and nucleic acids present:

The microbes that act as contaminants are mostly bacteria. Bacteria are rich source of enzymes and enzymes are proteins that are very fragile to heat treatment as they easily denature. DNA and RNA that carries the genetic information of the microbe can also be easily destroyed by any kind of sterilizing treatment, like heating, radiation or chemical treatment.

EPP does not contain hydrocarbons, volatile organic components or other elements that are classified as very harmful to the environment. EPP does not contain heavy metals. For example, in the automotive industry, it is used not only to improve vehicle reliability, but also to reduce weight. 

 

Therefore, it helps reduce exhaust emissions and fuel consumption. EPP can be recycled or burned, and combustion will produce a high heating value without producing corrosive gases. If EPP is processed into protective packaging, it can be completely reused. 

 

In addition, EPP is completely non-toxic, so it can be used without additional consideration-even the main product for making toys.

 

Recycling and improving sustainability

 

In this way, insufficient products can be immediately brought back to the manufacturing process. So as to ensure that no EPP products are used in the environment without trouble.

 

In addition, EPP is used on a large scale as a raw material for recyclable packaging. Due to its durability and energy-saving properties, EPP helps reduce the number of alternative materials or materials that are only used once. Packaging materials made from EPP can be recycled and provided to the original manufacturing process.

 

EPP extracted from dismantled vehicles can also be recycled. EPP products used in automotive applications (up to the bumper assembly of the sun visor) are recycled. As automakers first need more and more parts that do not need to be disassembled and separated, EPP is becoming more and more popular.
