会計事務所は「毒」になる職場、英国での調査（economiaより）

Accountancy firms “toxic”, say majority of ACAs

CABA（chartered accountants’ well-being charity）という団体が調べたところによると、会計事務所で働いている英国の勅許会計士の５５％が、職場が「有毒な（“toxic”）」場所だと感じているという記事。

事務所規模を問わず、パートナーからトレーニーまで調べていますが、非現実的な労働時間を期待されていること（17％）、チーム内のコミュニケーション問題（18％）、派閥的でよそよそしい同僚や嫉妬深いか競争心の激しい同輩（13％）を、朝、いやいや職場に行く理由として挙げています。

From partner to trainee in firms both small and large, they cite issues like the unrealistic hours they are expected to work (17%), communication problems within the team (18%), cliquey, stand-offish colleagues and jealous or competitive peers (13%), as reasons why they have to drag themselves out of bed of a morning to go to work.

さらに、12％は、同僚たちが足の引っ張り合いをしていると回答しています。同じく12％は、自分が事務所にぴったり合っていないと感じており、7％は、上司が弱い者いじめをしていると考えています。12％は、組織におけるアカウンタビリティの欠如に不満を持っています。

Furthermore, 12% told CABA, the chartered accountants’ well-being charity which carried out the survey, that colleagues had sabotaged each other. The same number felt that they did not fit in, while 7% thought their boss was a bully. Meanwhile, 12% also complained about the lack of accountability in the organisation.

76％は、直近12ヶ月において、仕事が自分たちにネガティブな影響を与えていると回答しています。

More than three quarters (76%) added that work had negatively affected them over the previous 12 months.

調査を行った団体のディレクターは、これほど大きな割合の勅許会計士が、職場環境（特に有毒な職場風土）についてこれほどネガティブに感じているということは、メンタルヘルスに影響し、非生産的でモチベーションが低い職場をもたらすだろうとと述べています。

CABA service director Kelly Feehan expressed concern that such a large percentage of chartered accountants felt so negative about their working environment, especially as such a toxic culture might well impact on their mental health and result in an unproductive and unmotivated workforce.
