この日クオリーメン (Quarrymen) は、フィリップス･サウンド･レコーディング･サービス (Phillips' Sound Recording Service) というリヴァプールのホームスタジオで2曲を録音する。これはジョンとポールとジョージをフィーチャーした、彼らの初めてのレコーディング･セッションであった。そのスタジオはパーシー･フランシス･フィリップス (Percy Francis Phillips) によって経営され、ケンジントン38番地にある彼の自宅 (ヴィクトリア王朝風のテラスハウス) のリビングをベースに改造したものだった。クオリーメンは「In Spite Of All The Danger」とバディ･ホリー (Buddy Holly) の「That'll Be The Day」をアレンジしたものを録音する。前者はPaul McCartney－Harrison作と記され、ジョンがリードヴォーカルをとっている。
ポール･マッカートニー『The Complete Beatles Recording』マーク･ルイソン ⇒ レーベルには僕とジョージとあるけれども、実際は僕が書いた曲だったと思う。ジョージはギターソロを弾いた。僕らは仲間だったし、誰も著作権や版権のことなんて言わなかった。誰も知らなかったんだ。僕らがロンドンに行ってからでも、曲は全員の共有だと実際思ってたよ。曲はただ宙に漂うもので誰も手に掴むことはできないとマジに思ってた。僕はこれを何回か言っているけど本当なんだ。あの時はジョージがギターソロを弾いたので、僕らはそれを「ジョージが書いた」と解釈したというわけなんだ。
このレコーディングにかかった費用は17シリング3ペンスで、直接10インチ78回転のアルミとアセテートのディスクにプレスされた。そのスタジオの記録簿には「スキッフル 10インチ両面 ダイレクト 11／3」とシンプルに記されている。この2曲ではポールの学友ジョン･ダフ･ロウ (John 'Duff' Lowe) がピアノで参加している。彼はジェリー･リー･ルイス (Jerry Lee Lewis) の「Mean Woman Blues」の初めのアルペジオが弾けるという能力を買われて駆り出された。彼は後年、レコーディングの前準備について回想している。
ジョン･ダフ･ロウ『A Hard Day's Write』スティーヴ･ターナー ⇒ 僕はフォースリン通り (Forthlin Street) のポールの家でやったリハーサルをよく覚えている。彼はこういう演奏をしたくて、ピアノはこういう風にしたいとかいうことにとても綿密だった。即興の入る余地はなかったね。僕らは僕らのプレイを指定されたんだ。
この日の正確な日付についてはずっと論争されている。2005(平成17)年にこの建物の前面の壁に設置させた銘板 (blue plaque) には、このセッションは
1958(昭和33)年07月14日(月)だったと刻まれていた。しかしその日の記録簿にスキッフル･グループの記帳は見られない。ロウはメンバーがスカーフを巻いていたことから、
1957(昭和32)年の10月か11月の寒い季節だったと回想する。またコリン･ハントン (Colin Hanton) も寒い季節で、ジョンが音量を下げるためにスカーフでスネア･ドラムを覆うことを提案したと語っており、ロウの記憶を支持する。
ポール･マッカートニー『The Complete Beatles Recording』マーク･ルイソン ⇒ 僕らはアンプとギターを持ってバスで行ったのを覚えている。ドラマー (コリン･ハントン) は別行動だった。他の人がデモを録っていたのでしばらく外の待合室で待ち、それから僕らの番が来た。僕らはその部屋に入ったが、パーシーは隣のコントロール･ブースにいたので姿は見えなかった。「オーケー、君ら何をやる？」それで僕らは大急ぎでやった。15分ぐらいだったかな。それで終わりだよ。
クオリーメンは1本のマイクに向かって選んだ2曲をライブ演奏した。そのテープ録音は10インチのシェラック･ディスク (shellac disc) をプレスした後、消去された。これはコストダウンのためにフィリップスがやるいつもの方法だった。ところがクオリーメンは全員合せても15シリングしか持ってなかったので、彼らが全額を持ってくるまでディスクを渡さなかった。
ポール･マッカートニー『The Complete Beatles Recording』マーク･ルイソン ⇒ そのレコードを手にした時、1周間交代で順番にみんなに回すことになった。ジョンが1週間持って僕に渡した。僕も1週間持ってジョージに渡した。それからコリンが1周間持ってダフ･ロウに渡したが、彼はそれを23年間持った。
ロウは1981年までこのディスクを靴下の引出しに保管したが、いくらか金になるかもしれないと思い付き、サザビー (Sotherby's) で鑑定してもらう。そしてそのことはサンデー･タイムズ (Sunday Times) の記者ステファン･パイル (Stephen Pile) によって報道された。
ジョン･ダフ･ロウ『A Hard Day's Write』スティーヴ･ターナー ⇒ あの日曜日の正午前にポール･マッカートニーがリヴァプールの僕の母に電話してきた。そこから僕と連絡がついて、電話で彼と話した。彼が例のディスクを僕から買い取りたいというので、その後数日間に渡って長い会話をした。僕は当時ウォーセスター (Worcester) に住んでいて、彼は弁護士とビジネスマネージャーを送ってよこした。僕はそのディスクを小さなブリーフケースに入れて地元のバークレー銀行 (Barclay's Bank) に預けていた。僕らはその銀行が好意で使わせてくれた小さな一室で会談し、取引は成立した。僕はそのレコードを手渡し、みんな家に帰った。
最終的にポール･マッカートニーがいくら支払ったのかは開示されていないが、ロウは最初に提示された5,000ポンドという金額を拒否したことが知られている。
ポール･マッカートニー『ANTHOLOGY』僕は凄く膨れ上がった値段でついにそれを買い戻したんだ。そしていくつかレプリカを造ったよ。当時のデモ･レコードはシェラック製だからすぐに摩耗するんだ。そんなレコード盤に針を落としたくないからね。でも手元に置けて嬉しいよ。
そのディスクを手に入れてから、ポールはできるだけ音質を改善するように音響技師に手配する。そして50枚ほどそのコピーを造って家族や友人に配った。この2曲は1995(平成七)年に『ANTHOLOGY １』でついにリリースされた。以降♪Inspite Of All The Danger♪は時折りポールのライブ・ショーでも演奏され、特に2005年のワールド･ツアーで顕著である。
②1961(昭和36)年07月02日(日) 移動：ハンブルグからリヴァプール
2度目のハンブルグ滞在でトップ･テン･クラブ (Top Ten Club) における連続92日におよぶ出演を終えた後、ビートルズは
7月02日(日)～03日(月)の旅を経てリヴァプールに帰る。その旅程は前回の帰国に比べれば、逮捕も国外追放もない実に平穏なものであった。彼らは丸3ヶ月無休で働いていたため、

1964(昭和39)年02月09日(日) 午前中にニューヨークの「スタジオ50」で『エド･サリバン･ショー』のリハーサルが行われた。ジョージが体調不良のために参加しなかったので、カメラ・リハーサル時はニール・アスピノールがジョージの代役として立ち位置に立った。午後は帰国後の
1964(昭和39)年02月23日(日)に放送予定の3回目出演分を収録。観客を前に「Twist And Shout」「Please Please Me」「I Want To Hold Your Hand」を演奏した。夜にはあの伝説の生放送による初出演が行われ、番組の前半は「All My Loving」「Till There Was You」「She Loves You」後半にはセットを変えて「I Saw Her Standing There」「I Want To Hold Your Hand」を演奏した。放送は午後8時から1時間。アメリカ全土で2,324万世帯、およそ7,300万人が視聴して当時のアメリカの最高視聴率記録をあっさり更新した。ちなみにこの時の放送は、

1963 Signed Margate Winter Gardens Promo Card (UK)￡6,500.00 About this item ⇒ A large format over-sized Parlophone Records promotional card that has been autographed on the front by The Beatles in ballpoint pen. John Lennon, George Harrison and Ringo Starr have signed in blue ballpoint pen. Paul McCartney has signed in black ballpoint pen. Paul has added the dedication ‘To Roger best wishes from the Beatles’ on the bottom right hand side of the card. The autographs were obtained between 8th and 13th July 1963 at the Winter Gardens in Margate, Kent when The Beatles were playing a series of concerts at the venue. The autographs come with a letter from the original recipient that reads ‘The Beatles were touring and playing at the Margate Winter Gardens. I was friendly with the daughter of the manager of the Gardens at the time, but unfortunately during a time lapse of 50 years her name has completely escaped me. However, realizing even then in their early days that this band was innovative, new and very exiting I plucked up some courage and asked her if she would get a photo for me. This she kindly did including getting all four of them to sign. I assume the signatures were not done during a concert but probably in or during a rehearsal’. The card measures 19cm x 12.5cm (7.5 inches x 4.9 inches). It has been folded down the centre, has a scuff and the top and bottom which has been caused by tape and it has two small tears on the left side. The condition is good.

"Fiona Adams was the photographer who took the cover photograph of The Beatles Twist and Shout EP.
'I think I've done much better shoots than that, but it worked for that cover and the jumping image worked very well with the record's title,' she said.
On her return from Australia in April 1963, she went to an employment exchange in Soho in search of work. She was directed to Picture Story Publications in Regent Street on a week's contract, but she ended up staying, doing studio and location shoots.
'I would ride around on the top deck of a London bus looking for shooting locations.'
In the same month, The Beatles arrived at the studio and Ms Adams took them in a taxi to a former bomb site at the rear of Euston Station.
"This emerged from one of my first assignments for Boyfriend Magazine. I had met the Beatles (then little-known) the previous week (Sunday April 14th 1963) when they were appearing on the popular 'Thank Your Lucky Stars' Show, hosted that day by Jimmy Saville, at the TV Studios in Teddington. These were very early days and the Beatles readily agreed when I asked them to come in for a shoot."
"Come in they did to our cramped little studio at No. 21, Kingly Street, W.1. The day was April 18th, 1963. I had been keen at that time to break away from the conventional Hollywood-style of stage and studio shot. To this end, I would ride around on the top deck of London buses to search out possible locations. An abandoned area had caught my eye at the crossroads of Euston and Gower Street. This was still a London blitzed in parts and awaiting rebuilding."
"As far as I remember, we all managed to pile into one taxi; the four Beatles, myself and Maureen O'Grady of Boyfriend - plus the camera gear! I climbed down the rubble into a bombed-out cellar, open to the sky, and had a wonderful session with the Beatles lined up on the wall above who couldn't have been more co-operative."
"Taken on this single roll of film was the Jumping Shot, the shot which John Lennon and Tony Barrow chose for the cover of the Beatles EP album 'Twist and Shout'."
"I shot three rolls of film in total, the contact sheets are shown here with a blow up of the jumping shot with my original cropping marks for printing."
"Their career hadn't completely taken off yet, but it did after that," she said. "I remember someone coming out of the building while we were doing it and asking who they were."
She did not know that Dezo Hoffman had photographed the band jumping in Manchester a week before [sic], though his images were not published until later.
In 2004, Ms Adams took the images and contact strips from that shoot to Christie's auctioneers for valuation. They put her in contact with Beatles biographer Mark Lewisohn, who did a day-by-day account of the band over a three-year period, including April 1963.
He said her story helped to confirm what happened on that day.
In April 2006, the Times Saturday supplement revealed the photographer of the "Twist and Shout" photo had been found. Meanwhile, Ms Adams had done a deal with Redferns Music Picture Library to market her pictures.
Through Redferns, Ms Adams' images were displayed in the 2006 "The Beatles on the Balcony" exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery, ironically next to Dezo Hoffman's. "It's lovely and I'm very happy about it," she said. "When Redferns contacted me I thought, Wow! It is a proud moment for me to have my photographs in the National Portrait Gallery."

Note･･･『The Beatles Anthology ３』に、6月5日の段階の第5テイクが収録されている。これはポールのベースがオーバーダブされる前の物だと思うが・・ドラムがすでにオーバーダブされている。 記録によるとこのボーカルは消されて、ポールのベースが2通り録音され、そして翌日に再びボーカルが2回録音された後でリダクションされて第7テイクになるはず。ドラムのオーバーダブは●7月12日まで行われてないのだ。このバージョンはリリースされた物と違っているので、6月6日の物ではない。という事は、スレイベルとピアノをオーバーダブする段階でドラムもオーバーダブされたのだろうか？ 最終リリースバージョンではこのリズムトラックはステレオでは左側にゴチャッとミックスされている。
