The Conversation / Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

　簡潔にまとまった知的な thriller で suspense の傑作、The Conversation です。1974年製作の America 映画。Francis Ford Coppola 監督、David Shire 音楽で、Gene Hackman が主演し、殺人計画に巻き込まれた盗聴の expert の心理的恐怖を描いた作品です。ほんのちょっと Harrison Ford や Robert Duvall が出演していますね。しかしこの映画を見て、淡々と薄ら寒い恐怖感を覚えました。

Enemy of the State

　Enemy of the State は Tony Scott 監督が製作した1998年の spy-thriller 映画。Terrorism Prevention Act を巡る暗殺事件の証拠を偶然掴んだ弁護士が政府の陰謀に巻き込まれ、元 NSA 技官と手を組んで陰謀に挑む姿を描きます。音楽は Harry Gregson-Williams と Trevor Rabin（元 Yes）、俳優は Will Smith, Gene Hackman, Jon Voight などで、Hackman は The Conversation（盗聴）の pro として出演しています。Jack Black も出演。

　Tampu は、1995年の Toto の album です。'92年に Jeff Porcaro が死亡して、その後ちょっとバタバタしていましたが、ようやくの登場です。Steve Lukather 主導で、Simon Phillips を正式 member に迎え完全復活し、hard な音だった前作と比べると variety に富み、Turn Back から Toto IV の流れに似ています。Drive の効いた rock から ballade まで、Toto 節が全開です。

Water Horse: Legend of the Deep

　The Water Horse は、2007年の America の映画です。原作は Dick King-Smith の小説で、日本でも「おふろの中からモンスター」として知られています。監督は Jay Russell に、音楽は James Newton Howard です。1942年、Scotland（実際に撮影したのは New Zealand でしたが…）の Loch Ness を舞台に、Water Horse という伝説の海獣と、孤独だが純粋な少年 Angus の、友情を描く fantasy です。ＣＧとは思えない Water Horse の存在感は圧巻。

　1976年の album Paris と言う Paris は、元 Fleetwood Mac の guitarist の Bob Welch と、元 Jethro Tull の bassist の Glenn Cornick と、元 Nazz の drummer の Thom Mooney の、３人のもろ hard rock の band です。"Religion" なんて Led Zeppelin そっくり。しかしそれは１曲だけで、あとは神秘主義とすべて occult に染まっています。ん～、"Rock of Ages" ですな～。Album は全米103位。
