Today, I'd like to introduce English Plus' school event in February.
In February, we're holding some school activities!
Our activities are mainly for our students to help them improve their English skills.
This month we're going to hold...
・Movie Night
・Apples to Apples Night
・Study Abroad Info Session
and so on.
There is something going on every week, so our students should check out the calendar on the bulletin board or at the counter at English Plus.
Let's enjoy learning and improving English skills this year too!

英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（ホノルルその２・英語編）

Good morning and thank you for your visit to English Plus blog!
Today, let's learn an English expression from English Plus' winter vacation.
From the end of last month to the beginning of this month, I went on a business trip to Vancouver, Honolulu, and Toronto.
I was busy since I visited these three cities in about 10 days.
A lot of things happened during this trip, and today let's learn some English from the trip in Honolulu.
After I finished business meetings, I stopped by the nearest beach since it was on the way to my hotel.
The weather was not bad and a lot of people were on the beach.
It was at dusk and most of the people were taking photos of the beautiful sunset.
I was looking at the sunset too and suddenly from behind I was talked to by two women.
They said, "Can you take a picture of us?" in English and I replied, "Sure" and took their photo.
After I took the photo, one of them asked, "Do you want me to take your picture?"
So, I said, "Please, thanks."
They were kind and the picture was beautiful.
I thought it was one of real travel conversations.

英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（ホノルルその２・日本語編）

おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（ホノルルその２・日本語編）”です。

この冬休みは海外出張で北米（バンクーバー・ホノルル・トロント）へ行ってきました。

東京→バンクーバー→ホノルル→トロント→東京を約１０日間という、なかなか忙しい行程の中では、色々なことがありました。

今日は、ホノルルでの話（その２）と題し、ホノルルで使った英語表現を学んでいきたいと思います。

英語学校のアポからホテルへの帰り道、近くだったのでビーチ沿いを歩いてみました。

天候も悪くなく、大勢の人がビーチにいました。

ちょうど夕暮れ時ということもあり、写真を撮っている方が多かったです。

ビーチで夕暮れを見ていた時、突然“私たちの写真を撮ってくれますか？”と２人組の女性に英語で話しかけられました。

“もちろん”と返答し、写真を撮りました。

写真撮影後、一人の女性が“あなたの写真を（あなたのカメラで）撮ってあげましょうか？”と言ってくれたので、お願いをしましたが、ここで英語の学習です。

A:“私たちの写真を撮ってくれますか？”

B:“もちろん”

A:“（今度は）あなたの写真を撮ってあげましょうか？”

実際にあったこのようなやり取りを英語でどのように表現するでしょうか？

少し英語で考えてみましょう。

Today, let's learn an English expression from English Plus' winter vacation.
This past winter, I went on a business trip to Vancouver, Honolulu, and Toronto.
I was a bit busy since I visited these three cities in about 10 days.
A lot of things happened during this trip, and today I'd like to write about public transportation in Honolulu.
Waikiki area is not so big that if we want, we can walk from one end to the other.
However, this time, I tried "The Bus" since it was my first time to visit Honolulu and I thought I could tell my experience to those who are thinking about studying in Honolulu.
I got on the bus and went to English schools and so on.
The Bus is very convenient and once you get used to it, you can go almost everywhere with The Bus.
The price is also reasonable and you can change buses within 2 hours; however, you basically need to pay in cash. (There is no change, so you must have exact cash $2.50)
Changing buses is possible but you need to get a transfer ticket on the first bus by saying "Transfer please."
If you have a chance, please try "The Bus" and go somewhere you've never been!

おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（ホノルルその１・日本語編）”です。

この冬休みは海外出張で久々に北米（バンクーバー・ホノルル・トロント）へ行ってきました。

東京→バンクーバー→ホノルル→トロント→東京を約１０日間という、なかなか忙しい行程の中では、色々なことがありました。

今日は、ホノルルでの話とホノルルで使った英語表現を学んでいきたいと思います。

ワイキキ（ホノルル）は、それほど大きな地区ではないので歩こうと思えば、端から端まで歩ける距離なのですが、勉強のためにも公共交通機関（The Bus）に乗って英語学校等にも行ってみました。

The Busはとても便利で、慣れてきたら色々なところへ行くところが可能です。

料金もとても手頃（$2.50）で、乗り換えも２時間以内でしたら大丈夫だったと思いますが、バンクーバーやトロントと違い、支払いは基本的に現金のみでした。（お釣りも出てこないので注意が必要です）

乗り換えは可能なのですが、乗り換え時には“乗換券”を最初に乗ったバスで貰っておく必要があります。

“乗換券”が欲しい場合、英語で言うでしょうか？

少し英語で考えてみましょう！

もっと英語力向上のために英語学校レッスンのコース名などの再編成をしました（英語編）

Good morning and thank you very much for your time to visit English Plus blog!
Today, I'd like to announce some change at English Plus school.
Since we started English lessons here in Tamachi, we've provided lessons for our students to help improve their English skills.
From this year, we've changed the names of the courses and step-up system in order to help our students more.
For example, "Skill-Up course" has become "Skill-Up Conversation course" since its focus is for communication.
"Conversation course" has become "Power-Up Conversation" because its aim is to communicate more naturally and fluently.
We've also changed the system for our students to improve English skills more easily.
With the new system, our students can see how their English skills improve and what the best way for them.
Also, our school philosophy "we support our students to improve their basic English skills" is more clear.
We'll just do our best to help our students to improve their English skills!

おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“もっと英語力向上のために英語学校レッスンのコース名などの再編成をしました（日本語編）”です。

今までも会話やコミュニケーションのため、“使える英語力のアップ”を追求してカリキュラムやコースを組んできましたが、今年より、英語力向上にこだわる思いを込めて、コース名の変更やステップアップするためのシステム等をわかりやすくすることにしました。

これまでも、使える英語力向上のレッスンをしてきましたが今回は、より皆様にわかりやすいようにコース名を変更しました。

また、よりよく使える英語力をつけるために、無理なく基礎英語力を習得できるようなレッスンの受講システムを再編成しました。

これらの変更により、基礎英語力習得というEnglish Plusの目標を明確に反映したコース組み＆システムになっています。

これからも、もっと英語力向上にこだわったレッスン・自己学習サポートをしていきたいと思います。

英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（バンクーバー→ホノルル・英語編）

Today, let's learn an English expression from English Plus' winter vacation.
As I wrote about my business trip this winter in this blog, I went to Vancouver, Honolulu, and Toronto.
I was kind of busy since I visited these three cities in about ten days.
A lot of things happened during this trip, and today I'd like to write about another surprising story.
I flew with Air Canada in this entire trip.
I've used Air Canada before so I had no problem with the first flight from Tokyo to Vancouver.
The flight between Tokyo and Vancouver was pleasant since they used the latest Boeing 787.
The next destination after Vancouver was Honolulu.
I thought there would be no problem with this flight too; however, as I got on, I felt something wrong.
The first thing I realized was some other passengers brought food with them and started eating as soon as they sat down...
I wondered why...
I felt something is wrong so I checked the seat pocket in front of me and found "Air Canada rouge."
I checked a little more and saw "there is no complimentary meal during this flight", "if you need a blanket, you have to pay" and so on.
The moment I saw these was "OMG..." in my mind .
The flight was just dinner time and it's an international 6 hour flight...
but I checked a little more and found in-flight service information, so I was able to order dinner.
However, if I hadn't had a credit card with me, I wouldn't have been able to get anything...(oh, by the way, soft drink is free.)
I really thought "credit card" is a must item when you go abroad!
I didn't ask this question on the airplane, but the one I wanted to ask was "Do you accept JCB card?"
I wonder if they accept or not...

おはようございます。English Plus英語講師のarataです。

本日は“英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（バンクーバー→ホノルル・日本語編）”です。

この冬休みは海外出張で久々に北米（バンクーバー・ホノルル・トロント）へ行ってきました。

東京→バンクーバー→ホノルル→トロント→東京を約１０日間という、なかなか忙しい行程の中、色々なことがありました。

今日は、バンクーバー→ホノルル間の驚いた話を書いていきたいと思います。

今回の旅では、全てAir Canadaのフライトを利用しました。

以前にも何回か利用した航空会社で、今回の旅の最初のフライトは東京→バンクーバーでした。

フライトは何の心配もなく、無事にバンクーバーに到着し、バンクーバーでの元同僚との出会いなどもあり、忙しいながらも充実した日々でした。

バンクーバーの次の目的地はホノルル、東京→バンクーバーのフライトと同様に何の心配もなく飛行機に乗り込んだのですが、東京→バンクーバーに比べ、少し回りの様子がおかしい…

よく見てみると、ほとんどの人が何か食べ物を持参している…

少し様子が？？？なので、シートポケットに入っているパンフレットを見てみると…“Air Canada rouge”の文字。

そして…“食事の提供はありません”

そして…“ブランケット有料”。

これらの文字を見た瞬間“えっ？”でした。

フライトの時間はちょうど夕食時、それも国際線で約６時間の旅。

それでもクレジットカードで機内サービスを頼めたので問題なかったのですが、クレジットカードがなければ…アウトでした。（ちなみに、Air Canada rougeでは食事は有料でしたが、飲み物（アルコールを除く）は無料でした。）

北米での旅はクレジットカード必携です。

それでは、ここで英語の勉強の時間です。

北米の旅でクレジットカードは必携ですが、“JCBカードは使えますか？”と言いたい時、英語では何と言うでしょうか？

少し英語で考えてみましょう！

英語講師の冬休みから学ぶ英語表現（バンクーバー・英語編）

Today, let's learn an English expression from my winter vacation.
I went on a business trip to Vancouver, Honolulu, and Toronto for the first time in about a decade.
Because of Christmas holiday and so on, I visited these three cities in about 10 days.
I was very busy since my travel itinerary was like this: Tokyo→Vancouver→Honolulu→Toronto→Tokyo.
A lot of things happened during this trip, and today I'd like to write about a surprising story.
Before I started English Plus, I worked at a big English conversation school as a teacher.
It was my first career as an English teacher and there were some great co-workers.
My co-workers (English teachers) were from different countries, and some of them were Canadians.
I have a lot of good memory since I enjoyed working with all of them.
However, I quit the company in order to get a TESL certificate in Canada.
Since then, my co-workers and I have become drifted apart.
At that time, I had Facebook account; however, I didn't upload my photo or comments much, so there was almost no contact.
Before this business trip, I had some appointments with business associates, but not with my friends or ex-co-workers since I thought I had no time to hang out with.
Anyway, in Vancouver, I visited some schools and talked with Japanese counselors.
Before I left Vancouver, I visited the last school and I saw a familiar face at the counter.
I thought it can't be my ex-co-worker; but the next moment what I heard was "Arata!"
"What a coincidence!"
It was a surprise, very happy surprise!
I was so sorry that I didn't have much time to talk with her, but I was very happy that she looked fine!
After I left the school, I went to Vancouver airport to go to the next destination, Honolulu.
