ちちだんご Chichi Dango

先月知人より戴いた「ちちだんご」
数年前まで、会社に月一度立ち寄るお客さんが
手土産にいつも持って来てくれていた美味しい和菓子。
始めのうちは20個入りくらいの箱を一つくれていたのに
しばらくすると一箱はスタッフ皆へともう一箱は私の
家族にと毎月二箱差し入れしてくれていた。
One of my friends gave us a pack of Chichi Dango last
month. For the longest time, one of the customers who
regularly visited our office used to bring these in
for us. At first, he was bringing in one box, but soon
started giving us two boxes; one for the staff and
the other for my family.



当時息子がまだ3歳くらいで、「ちちだんご」を持って帰ると
すごく喜んで食べていた。そして未だにコチラは息子のお気に入り。
Our son was about 3 years old at that time and loved
these chichi dango, and he still loves it till this day.

それにしてもこの名前の由来は何なんだろう？
ネットではChichi＝Milkと書いてあったので
このお菓子にミルク(ココナツミルク？）でも使われて
いるのかな？とにかく甘くて柔らかいロコにも人気の和菓子です。
I'm not too sure how the name of this product came about.
I read it some place on the web that chichi in this
product's name stands for "milk." Does this mean that they
use milk (coconut milk?) as one of the ingredients?
Anyhow, it's super soft and sweet and is one
of the local favorte sweets.
