NewJeans' popularity is back...

NewJeans is back in style...
NewJeansの人気が戻ってきた

"NewJeans" appeared on MBC's "Music Core" broadcast on July 13th. Not only new songs (Supernatural, Right Now) but also a medley stage of past hits (ETA, OMG, Hype Boy) was performed.

The members also appeared in the interview corner.

Regarding their Japanese debut song "Supernatural", Minji said, "It's a fun dance song that makes you want to dance along the moment you hear the intro", and Hani said, "The point is to cool down the basic hip-hop movements".

When the conversation turned to the return to activities, "It seems that Haein was really waiting for today for the five of us to be together", Haein, who has returned to group activities, showed her enthusiasm by saying, "We have prepared many stages like a very special and special comprehensive gift set", and "'Right Now' is a charming song that is perfect for summer".

Recently, I have had more opportunities to watch NewJeans' performance videos.

Last week, they made their Japanese debut with "Supernatural," so I watched them intensively.

In particular, all of the members' Japanese cover songs have become my favorites.

Matsuda Seiko's "Aoi Sango Reef" is a hit song that was sung over 40 years ago, but Hani's performance of this song was amazing.

Hani's performance brought back nostalgia, so I have watched this video many times.

I also found and watched the original Matsuda Seiko's performance video. I even listened to other people's cover songs.

In Matsuda Seiko's performance video, you can see her youthful appearance at that time.

Her powerful and crystal clear singing voice is still alive and well in the time that has passed.

I once again felt that this was Matsuda Seiko's "Aoi Sango Reef."

But why? Even though it's the same "Blue Lagoon" stage and song, there's a certain gap between the two.

So I listened to other people's cover songs.

After listening to a variety of them, I thought that while many covers try to get close to Seiko Matsuda's voice and the atmosphere of the song (individually), Hani has rather focused on the atmosphere, background, and characteristics of the public and the era that accepted Seiko Matsuda's "Blue Lagoon."

It's certainly a cover song, but isn't it that it has become Hani's "voice and stage" that transcends time and has emerged (Min Heejin's achievement?)?

It also feels like it has been easy to connect from person to person across generations...

When Hani's performance of "Blue Lagoon" started to become a hot topic, I imagine that people can still be seen all over Japan explaining the song to generations that don't know it...

Minzy's "Dancer" and Haein's "Plastic Love" were also attractive and worthwhile performances.

It's good to see NewJeans' popularity returning.
