Girls' Generation's Yuna has been selected as the heroine of KBS 2TV's Monday-Tuesday drama "Nodame Cantabile."

On the 4th, according to multiple sources, Yuna was the final cast member for the role of Nodame, the heroine of the Korean version of "Nodame Cantabile," and details are being considered. Actress Shim Eun-kyung and singer IU were mentioned as candidates for the heroine, but in the end, Yuna is likely to be the lucky protagonist.

"Nodame Cantabile" is produced by Group Eight, which produced the KBS 2TV dramas "Boys Over Flowers" and "Beautiful Man." It is based on the manga of the same name by Tomoko Ninomiya. In Japan, it was made into a TV drama in 2006, starring actors Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri.

The Korean version of "Nodame Cantabile" is based on the theme of classical music and is planned to depict the heart-fluttering love and growth of music college students. Joo Won has been confirmed to play the male lead in the Korean version, with Baek Yun-sik and Tiny-G's Dohee also joining the cast. It is scheduled to premiere in Korea in October as the successor to "Discovery of Romance".

I haven't read the comic of the same name, but this drama starring Tamaki Hiroshi and Ueno Juri was really interesting.

The setting, in which two people with musical genius talents, Chiaki Senpai, a rich kid from a good place, and Noda Megumi (Nodame), who comes from a not-so-rich family, live next to each other in a condominium, and the unrealistic setting, combined with the comical acting of Tamaki Hiroshi, Ueno Juri and the rest of the cast, made me forget about it.

The reality is that private music colleges have high tuition fees, and with limited job opportunities after graduation, the competition for future prospects is extremely fierce.

While a handful of students make it onto the glamorous stage, and a few manage to get the job they want, many others change course, give up the competition, and end up in jobs unrelated to music.

But at the same time, this campus is filled with fierce, sublime, romantic, and cool competition for the world of Beethoven and Mozart, and it never ceases to inspire the dreams of young people who are interested in classical music.

"Nodame Cantabile" is a bit too comical, but it does a good job of capturing that. There are probably many young people who were inspired by this drama and went on to music college, hoping to become Nodame Chiaki.

It is likely that Girls' Generation's Yoona will play the role of "Nodame" in the Korean version of this drama. Actress Shim Eun-kyung and singer IU were also candidates.

At first glance, Yuna is the least suitable of the three. I thought Seohyun, who can play the piano and has met Ueno Juri since Girls' Generation, would be good, but then I remembered her character in "Nodame" and realized that Seohyun's image wouldn't work.

The heroine of this drama, "Nodame," has no intelligence at all. She lacks solfege, the foundation of music. She is a carefree girl who can do it if she tries, but doesn't care about it. If she existed in real life, she would be a typical dropout, but when she starts playing the piano, music with rich sensitivity overflows from her fingertips...there is an unfathomable talent sleeping deep in her heart.

In other words, a celebrity with a vague image would be better suited to such a character. A celebrity can do anything, but it is better if their intelligence is not visible on the surface.

I see. It is true that Yuna's intelligence is more hidden than Shim Eun-kyung or IU's.
Among the Girls' Generation members, Yuna is the one who seems to have the most hidden intelligence. She herself doesn't talk about such things, and in her profile, there is little mention of her being able to speak English, Japanese, or Chinese. She has a strong image of not asserting herself much and staying in the background.

It has not yet been finalized with Yuna, but I would like to pay attention to what kind of "Nodame" she will play if she is chosen as the heroine.

On the 6th, Yuna of the girl group Girls' Generation was cast as the lead in the Korean version of the popular Japanese drama "Nodame Cantabile". It is scheduled to air on KBS in Korea from October.

However, the producer in charge said, "For dramas based on original works, the permission of the original author is required even for casting, so Yuna's (Girls' Generation) appearance has not been finalized."

According to him, the original author of "Nodame Cantabile" (Ninomiya Tomoko) wanted to cast an actress who has a personality as close as possible to that of Ueno Juri, who actually played the main character Noda Megumi.

The first candidate to be cast was young actress Shim Eun-kyung, who made her big break in last year's movie "Miss Granny," but due to scheduling conflicts she was unable to take the role.

Joo Won has been confirmed for the role of Chiaki Shinichi, the male lead played by Tamaki Hiroshi, but it seems that the casting of Noda Megumi took time as it required consultation with the original author.

Other cast members include veteran actor Baek Yun-sik as Franz Stresemann, the world-famous conductor and mentor of the main characters, and Dohee, a member of the girl group "Tiny-G," as double bass player Saku Sakura.

"Nodame Cantabile" became a hot topic among Korean fans of Japanese dramas immediately after it was broadcast on Fuji TV in 2006, and its fan base expanded further through online file sharing and other means.

It was later broadcast on a satellite and cable channel (MBC Net), and recorded a viewer rating of around 2% despite not being broadcast on terrestrial TV. As it is the most popular Japanese drama in Korea in recent years, interest in the remake is running high, including the casting this time.

On the other hand, last year Japanese dramas "I Don't Need Love, Summer" (TBS), "Haken no Hinkaku" (NTV), "Kaseifu no Mita" (NTV), and "Joou no Kyoushitsu" (NTV) were remade, but "Kaseifu no Mita" and "Joou no Kyoushitsu" ended up with low viewer ratings.

Other dramas that were adapted into Korean versions and broadcast on the airwaves include "The White Tower" (Fuji TV), "Boys Over Flowers" (TBS), "The Man Who Can't Get Married" (Fuji TV), "The Sasakis' Battle Without Honor and Humanity" (TBS), "Yamato Nadeshiko" (Fuji TV), and "Mischievous Kiss" (TV Asahi), but nearly half of these dramas ended without any particular reaction.

Now that Japanese dramas are being remade in Korea almost every year, it is no longer enough to simply be described as "a big hit in Japan."

If the dramas do not properly capture the slightly different emotions and sensibilities of Koreans and Japanese and are carefully arranged, they will no longer appeal to Korean viewers who have become accustomed to content from Japan.

With Yuna's appearance confirmed, will "Nodame Cantabile" be able to become a nationwide hit in Korea?

The main cast is finally being decided, and attention will now turn to the skill of the screenwriter in charge of the adaptation.
