　"The San Diego Super Computer Center (SDSC) Storage Resource Broker (SRB) middleware platform
　 provides an interface for connecting heterogeneous data sources over a network. SRB is designed
　 to build data grids and access replicated data sets distributed over long distances."

　いきなりですが

　"SRB is a data grid system that coordinates collections of client and server hosts distributed across
　 local- or wide-area networks to provide transparent access to storage resources, data, and metadata.
　 SRB provides access, via a uniform API, to various types of data storage across LANs/WANs, and
　 maintains metadata about each stored object.

　 Furthermore, SRB provides federation facilities for two or more independent SRB systems to
　 interact and allow for seamless data access across these SRB systems."
最後の一文にある、この機能がすごいんです。学部ごとに図書館が分かれているような大規模な大学での
図書文献・学術論文・講義録等のデータ管理で活用されています。今度紹介します。
　米国内の教育・公的団体にはソースコードで公開しています。クライアントソフトも着実に進化しています。
残念ながら、米国外は駄目だった気がします・・・、米国内 SRBのクライアントになる？
