　「HoMM III」のキャンペーン・「Long Live the King」のシナリオ1「A Gryphon's Heart」をプレイしました。

Long Live the King
The war in Erathia is the greatest thing that could have happened for the nation of Deyja. A war of this scale is an endless harvest for our undead armies. Today we shall feast, and tomorrow we shall conquer Erathia for ourselves.

　このキャンペーンで新たに登場するのは、ネクロマンサーの国であるDeyja。これで8つの街に対応する、8つの国が出揃いましたね。
　ネクロマンサーにとって、今回のような大規模な戦争は、大規模なアンデッド軍団を組織するためにはまたとない機会。そしてそのアンデッド軍団を率いて、Erathia 侵攻に動き出したのです。

A Gryphon's Heart
Our nation's goal was to kill the man who banished us from Erathia.
However, Nighon and Eeofol's subsequent invasion has done us an unexpected favor.
Erathia is strewn with the dead.
For the necromancers, this is a season of harvest.
This is a season for war.
Queen Catherine is a formidable foe.
To defeat Erathia's remaining military, we need a tactician greater than her.
We have a plan... an ironic plan.
While Catherine organizes the last stages of her war with Nighon Eeofol, you will sneak into Erathia and locate King Gryphonheart's grave.
Be wary.
The region is occupied by scattered Erathian.
When the gravesite is found, we will resurrect the dead king and make him our pawn.
With King Gryphonheart commanding our armies, his former home will become our land of the dead.

To win, you must bring the Spirit of Oppression to the city of Stonecastl within 3 months. Seek out the Seer - completing the Seer's Quest will allow you to carry the reward to the next scenario.

　マップサイズはS。こちらのカラーはPurple 、敵はRed。シナリオ開始前に、Scroll of Death Ripple か、1 Black Knight か、Skelton Transformer かを選択します。今回はマップサイズがSですし、時間制限もあります。序盤からダッシュをかけるために、1 Black Knight を選択することにします。

　冒頭、以下のメッセージが届きます。

Our spies tell us that the tomb of King Gryphonneart is located in the town of Stonecastle, near Erathia's northern border, in a place that was clear of the war with Nighon and Eeofol. Seek this place out and capture it so that we may animate the body of the King.
You must also seek out the Spirit of Oppression and bring it to Stonecastle, as it is one of the items we need for the ritual to animate the King's body. But you must act quickly - the body will be of no use to us if its spirit departs.

　Deyja の恐るべき作戦。それは亡くなったGryphonheart 王をアンデッドとして復活させ、Deyja の手先にしようというものでした。Gryphonheart 王の墓所があるのは、Stonecastle。今回の使命は、王の蘇生に必要なアイテム「Spirit of Oppression」をStonecastle に運ぶことです。ただし、モタモタしていると、王の身体からその魂が離れてしまいます。急がねば！

　こちらの本拠地は北東にあるNecropolis 。Hut of Magi によって、目指すStonecastle が、山を挟んだマップ中央やや南西寄りにあることがわかります。
　いつものように2人で周囲を探索。歩き回れる範囲は狭く、北へ抜けるものと東へ抜けるものと2ヶ所あるGarrison を突破しなくては外に出て行くことはできません。
　もうひとつの道は地下へのGate。そこでまず、ありったけの軍勢を持たせた勇者で地下の探険に出かけます。地下通路を通っていくと、特に何も無いまま、北西部で地上に出ます。その場所は本拠地からみて北のGarrison の向こう側なのですが、そこからマップ西部に行くためにはまたGarrison が行く手を阻んでいます。まだ先が長そうなので、その部隊はGarrison をひとつ破り、一旦本拠地に帰還します。

　Garrison の軍勢があんまり強くなかったので、本拠地で軍勢を補充した後、今度は東のGarrison を突破します。Garrison の先はマップ南部を経由して、Stonecastle まで通じています。ちょっと対決が早いような気もしたのですが、勢いでそのまま攻めかかり、それなりに被害も大きかったのですが、Stonecastle の攻略に成功します。

　あとは「Spirit of Oppression」を見つけてくればOK。あんまり大したこと無いのでかなり省きますが、マップ南西部に行ってさらに地下に降りたりして、色々あった末に「Spirit of Oppression」を発見。それをStonecastle に持ち帰り、シナリオクリアです。

　

　クリア日数は55日。このシナリオは戦闘面での手ごたえが全然無かったので、急げばもっと早くクリアできると思います。やっぱり最初のシナリオは、これくらいサクサククリアできた方がいいですね。
