De l'ambiant electrodark en provenance direct de Tokyo-chiba : un dépaysement oriental qui se doit de réjouir nos écoutilles !

Ryu aka Ryuta.k nous présente ici, son troisième album solo. Il est également l'un des membres du duo Overdose Kunst (deux albums depuis 2001) aux côtés d'un autre musicien japonais : Takeshi.f. Leurs créations sont disséminées sur bon nombre de netlabels... Afin de décrire le style de ses créations, Ryu est décidément plus que prolixe : "Post sampling kinetic nonhierarchical nonlinear nonequilibrium forth world muziq !" ou encore "A post sampling kinetic quantum-reduction dissipative system of sound in nonequalibrium...", je vous laisse le soin d'en effectuer la traduction... Au final, la musique pourrait bien avoir été composée en Europe, ou aux USA, l'influence de l'occident est évident, et presque même étouffante, tant on aurait aimé une fraîcheur toute singulière venue du pays du soleil levant. Fasciné par la langue française, si l'on en juge les titres de ses précédents albums, son instrumentarium se compose ainsi : powerbookG4 , max/msp, Triton, jackson guitar, joemeek. Côté influence, celui-ci nous parle de Harry Partch, Luc Ferrari, Jon Hassell et des musiques du monde, dont il affectionne plus articulièrement l'aspect rythmique. Marqué également par les philosophes et les artistes occidentaux comme Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Lacan, Marcel Duchamp... sa démarche de création s'avère immanquablement complexe : déconstruction, castration, Anti-Œdipe, notion du Réel et enfin une utilisation particulière du timbre semblent être au centre de ses préoccupations.

Par son approche singulière du bruit, Ryu tente de définir les territoires sonores de demain. Inscrit dans un phénomène de mondialisation des expressions musicales, il semble, comme de nombreux artistes de sa génération, libéré de toute identité nationale !

Apetite for Deconstruction

Overdose Kunst's Apetite for Deconstruction is a record that travels across genres that are caracterized by their ahestetic freedom, without ever feeling the need to relate with one in particular, and always progressing with no compromise.

The same way that everybody who's alive today has Adam's gene in them, everybody that voyages through a certain musical path surely has Robert Frip's gene in them, something that is shown in the oppening track "The Night of Mansyuria", vaguely reminiscent of No Pussyfooting, but never setteling for pre-existent paths.

"Schizopoiesis", the next track, is a sudden explosion after the previously installed dormentia, and it departures with a trail of contemporaneity

The third track, "Nikias Luhman" due to its aura of imprevisibility returns us some of the initial tranquility but none of the sleepiness of the oppening track.
"Requia for ethnic cleansing" is 3 minutes and 4 seconds not far from Stockhausen's world, although less organic and more descontructive.

The final track "Von Bertalanfly" is like a courageous post rock that doesn't wander aiminglessly on melancholic earth and sometimes echoes psychadelia.
