トム・ウェイツだけでなく、ショーン・ペン U2のボノ等の著名人からもリスペクトされるアメリカの詩人・小説家 C．ブコウスキー。
相当 破天荒な人だったらしい。飲む打つ買う　みたいな！
アメリカ人の作家というと、Ｊ・Ｄ・サリンジャーぐらいしか ちゃんと読んだことがなかった。「ライ麦畑でつかまえて」（The Catcher in the Rye：ライ麦畑の捕まえ手？）他 ほとんどの短編を読んだつもりだが、「倒錯の森」で飽きた。
それにしても 村上春樹の「キャッチャー・イン・ザ・ライ」の終わり方はあっけなさ過ぎたな。
そんなわけで、とりあえず ブコウスキーの「町でいちばんの美女 」(新潮文庫)でも読んでみてくれ。
ちなみに 彼のお墓の墓碑銘に刻まれている言葉が『Don't Try』だそうだ。
「無理をしなさんな」ってとこか。
