今月のフレーズは〝Eye candy and eye broccoli”
Peter: Hi Annie. I am going to the cinema. Would you like to come along?
Annie: No, thanks.
Peter: Why? What`s wrong? You love films, don’t you?
Annie: Yeah, I do, but I missed my caffeine window and now I have a splitting headache.
Peter: Your caffeine window? What does that mean?
Annie: It is an expression you can use to refer to the usual time you have your coffee.
Peter: Okay then. If you aren’t coming, I guess I should cancel the plan.
Annie: Why don’t you ask Alice? She is a cinephile. She will be happy to come with you.
(A cinephile is a person extremely fond of watching films.)
Peter: You are right. She is the right person. She watches at least three films in a week.
Annie: By the way, which movie are you going to watch?
Peter: That one starring Christen Stewart. It is on at 6.30.
Annie: Do you like her?
Peter: Absolutely. She is an eye candy. (An eye candy is an attractive person..)
Annie: Really. My brother doesn’t think so. He says that she is an eye broccoli.
Peter: Eye what…?
Annie: Broccoli, the vegetable. If a person is described as an eye broccoli, they are unattractive.
Peter: Really! Nooo way! She`s absolutely beautiful!
