お米 The Rice

プノンペンではスーパーで普通に納豆を売っています

しかも国産品ですが、漢字で大きく「納豆」と書いてあります

当然クメール文字で何やら書いてありますが、読めません

先日買って冷蔵庫に入れていましたが、美味しいご飯がないためなかなか手が出ませんでした

ところが今日、スーパーの米売り場の一番上の棚に最高級特選米「錦」というのを発見して買ってみました

早速2合ほど炊いてみたところ、これが美味い

日本の普通のお米と殆ど変わりませんが、袋の裏側の印刷を見ると、原産国アメリカと書いてあります

2.5kgで10ドルですから決して安くはなく、カンボジア産の3倍ぐらいです

こちらでコメを買ったのは今回で3回目ですが、1回目は味はあまり悪くないのですが、一度冷めたらひどくまずくなります

2回目の米は味も水分もひどいもので、もっぱらチャーハンにして食べていました

というわけで今夜はシンプルに納豆と、先日の麻婆豆腐の残りでいただきました

これからご飯が楽しみになってきそうですが、お腹周りのことを考えると、ちょっと困ったことになりそうです

In Phnom Penh we can buy “Natto” anytime.

Of course it is made in Cambodia and the name of “Natto” is printed on the top cover in Japanese but something in Khmer too.

I bought it and kept in my refrigerator but I didn’t have it for a few days because I didn’t have good rice.

However I found the rice in the super market printed “Super deluxe rice NISHIKI”.

I bought it and soon I cooked two cups of it.

It’s so nice! It was almost no difference with Japanese rice. But surprisingly on the back side “country origin USA” was printed.

The price was $10 for 2.5kg meaned very expensive that was about three times of Cambodian rice.

It was the third time to buy rice here and the first time, it was not so bad but after cooling it becomes too bad.

The second time, it tasted badly and I used only for the fried rice.

Then my dinner tonight was simply cooked rice with “Natto” and “Mabo-tofu” which whad been carried over since before yesterday.

To have rice will be my pleasure but it will be a problem for my waist saze.
