選挙投票日 The National Election Day

明日は国会議員の選挙投票日です
この国では投票日は国民の休日として扱われ、多くの人々が投票権を行使します
首都ホニアラは国中のほかの地方から出稼ぎに来ている労働者が多く、その人たちも投票のためにふるさとへ戻っていきます
そのために今日はホニアラ港を出向する船はすべて超満員で、おそらく定員の倍以上は乗っているようです
このホニアラは４議席に対して４１人の候補者が立ち、大激戦です。
選挙民は政治に対してはほとんど無関心ですが、票をめぐって飛び交う金品に動かされ、こぞって投票します
また対立候補の支持者間での抗争や暴力事件も多発しており、警察とRAMSIもかなり緊張した状態です
わたしも明日は自宅待機の予定です

Tomorrow will be the national election day for the parliament.
The Election Day will be a public holiday in this country and the almost of all people are going to vote.
In the capital city Honiara, there are a lot of people coming from the other provinces to work and all of them are going to back home to vote.
Today all ships leaving from Honiara port are completely full and most of them seem more than a twice of the capacity passengers are boarding on.
In Honiara, 41 candidates are standing for only three sheets and it is very tough battle.
Most of all electorates are not interested in the politics but they are moved by the money or goods flying within a campaign.
Conflict between supporters and violence are often occurring and the police and RAMSI are now little nervous.
I will be standing by at home tomorrow.
