海外の文人から、詩が届いた！
*パウル・エールリヒ (Paul Ehrlich, 1854-1915) はドイツの細菌学者・免疫学者。1908年にイリヤ•メチニコフとノーベル医学生理学賞を受賞し、さらに日本の志賀潔と同門でもある。免疫の根幹である「抗体」を作る免疫細胞（今でいうBリンパ球）の存在を提唱し、特効薬 (magic bullet)という概念を初めて用いたことで有名。
以下の詩から、何故かハイネの詩『モルヒネ』を思い出した！

坂口志文教授が、パウル・エールリヒ&ルートヴィヒ・ダルムシュテッター賞を受賞
坂口教授は、制御性T細胞 (Treg) の画期的な発見ならびに免疫学的自己寛容と恒常性維持における Treg の役割を示したことで、今回受賞のはこびとなりました。
2020年3月14日に、フランクフルトにて授賞式が行われました。

大阪大学免疫学フロンティア研究センター（IFReC）の坂口志文特任教授（常勤）が、ドイツのロベルト・コッホ賞を授与されることが発表されました。授賞式は2020年11月にベルリンで行われる予定です。
結核菌などの発見で知られ、自身や教え子から多くのノーベル賞学者を輩出したドイツの細菌学者ロベルト・コッホの名を冠したのがロベルト・コッホ賞であり、ドイツ連邦共和国で最も高額賞金かつ名誉な賞とされます。特に医学研究の中から微生物学・免疫学分野の優れた研究者に対して与えられます。
同賞は、コッホ賞とコッホ・ゴールドメダルの2つからなります。コッホ賞は新しい発見をした者に対して与えられ、過去に長田重一特任教授（常勤）、審良静男特任教授（常勤）（いずれも IFReC）、本庶佑特別教授（京都大学、2018年ノーベル医学・生理学賞）らが受賞しました。これに対しゴールドメダルは医学研究において優れた業績の蓄積がある者に対して与えられます。過去に大村智特別栄誉教授（北里大学、2015年ノーベル医学・生理学賞）、岸本忠三特任教授（IFReC）ら3人の日本人受賞者がいます。
なおロベルト・コッホの直弟子が日本近代の感染症学・免疫学の祖である北里柴三郎です。
坂口志文特任教授は、制御性T細胞（Treg）を発見し、免疫における自己寛容の機構（免疫細胞が自分を攻撃しない仕組み）を明らかにしてきました。その後の研究で、ガン免疫療法におけるTregの働きにも大いに期待がかけられています。コッホ財団からコッホ賞の賞金として、坂口教授に120,000 ユーロの贈呈があります。なお、ドイツのマックス・プランク感染生物学研究所の所長であるトーマス・マイヤー博士がゴールドメダルを受賞します。
