◎The Essence of Human Existence, the Essence of Energy
Don Juan Matus was a Yaqui Indian sorcerer and Soma Yoga master from Mexico, and the teacher of Carlos Castaneda. In bookstores about 40 years ago, the spiritual section of large bookstores would have around ten of Carlos Castaneda's books lined up, and it was quite a sight for what were essentially drug-induced meditation books.
Speaking of drug-induced meditation, many anthropological studies focus on shamans who take drugs and journey to the spirit world, which can be quite captivating.
However, it is important to note that while Don Juan Matus's writings include descriptions that might seem like spirit journeys or astral trips, he does not dwell on them.
In his universe, the Absolute Eagle and the Tonal and Nagual, which are not the Absolute, appear as representative symbols of power, but he does not necessarily adhere strictly to them. In other words, there is a fundamental idea that how one sees the world is up to the observer's free will. Conversely, modern society appears to have discussions and lives on the same playing field because it is composed of people who share a similar view of modern society. However, the way we view society should inherently allow for more freedom in how we see it.
That is to say, it seems that only the Kundalini energy cord is common to any universe or world for humans. However, the way we recognize the phenomena it creates—as what kind of society or what kind of world—is inherently free.
A significant part of the meditation practice for enlightenment begins with breaking down these preconceived notions. Carlos Castaneda's series repeatedly and profoundly explores this from various angles.
And this effort eventually leads to the death of the ego and a free way of seeing the world. However, even with this expression, the "self" that is observing remains. Of course, ultimately, one enters a state where there is no observing self.
In the following quotation, world perception is described as the form of recognition created by energy filaments (Kundalini?) that directly pierce the assemblage point.
Five characteristics of dreaming as seen by ancient shamans:
『
They saw that only the energy filaments that directly pierce the assemblage point put together consistent perception.
They saw that even a slight displacement of the assemblage point to another position makes different and other energy filaments begin to cross it, binding awareness and stabilizing the assemblage of that unfamiliar energy field into consistent perception.
They saw that in the midst of ordinary dreams the assemblage point easily moves to another position on the surface or inside its luminous egg.
They saw that the assemblage point can be moved en masse to the position of the energy filaments of the universe outside the luminous egg.
And fifth, they saw that through discipline it is possible to effect and develop orderly displacements of the assemblage point during sleep and ordinary dreams.』
(The Art of Dreaming / Carlos Castaneda / Futami Shobo, pp. 33-34)
Dantes Dailey assigns "freedom" to the Swadhisthana chakra, located in the lower abdomen, and I believe that "freedom" is indeed such a thing.
Premises:
『The essence of the universe is described as resembling incandescent filaments that extend infinitely in all directions. These luminous filaments are aware of themselves in a manner incomprehensible to the human mind.』 (Ibid., p. 18)
『The ancient sorcerers saw the essence of human existence, the essence of energy. They described the essence of human existence as a luminous shape resembling a giant egg, and called it the luminous egg.』
(Ibid., p. 18)
