◎Infinity is Unbelievably Entrancing
Simply put, plunging into the central sun is becoming one with the divine, and it is the great reversal, the inversion.
There are scenes in the Carlos Castaneda series where plunging into the central sun can only be thought of as being expressed as plunging into the abyss.
Don Juan Matus says:
『“Once you have entered into infinity, there is no way for us to rely on bringing you back,” Don Juan said.
“At that moment your resoluteness is required. Only you can decide whether to come back or not. And I must also warn you that only a handful of warriors-travelers survive this kind of encounter with infinity.
Infinity is unbelievably entrancing. That is why the warrior-traveler finds it utterly boring to come back to this world full of confusion and oppression and noise and pain.
Listen carefully, and remember well, that the decision to stay or to come back is not a matter of reasonable choice but a matter of intending it.
If you choose not to come back, you will vanish as if the earth had swallowed you. But if you choose to come back, you must tighten your belt and wait like a real warrior-traveler until your task is completed. No matter what that task may be, and whether it ends in success or failure.”』
(The Active Side of Infinity / Carlos Castaneda / Futami Shobo, pp. 295-296)
Infinity is the central sun. Many who attempt to plunge into it vanish as cosmic dust.
In the end, Castaneda plunges into it, but for some reason, it is written that he runs vigorously towards a cliff and plunges into the abyss.
What lies beyond the plunge cannot be expressed in words, so nothing is written about it.
His teacher, Don Juan Matus, warns about the necessary mental state when plunging: 『You must do it with the most rational feeling』 (Ibid., p. 296). This is akin to the instruction in the Tibetan Book of the Dead regarding the death process: be awake, be in clear consciousness.
