HAPPY NEW YEAR ★

本来は、9月11日がエチオピア歴の元旦らしいが、今年は13ヶ月あるので、なので9月12日、今日が元旦らしい。ただ外国人の私には、Happy New Yearと言われても、いまいちピンと来ないのが正直なところである。

Addis Ababaは、賑わいを見せてきており、道路もいつもより混んでいる。街の至るところでエチオピア国旗を見かけたり、Traditional Clothesを着ている人も見かけたりもする。店に入ると、床一面に、緑の草（ケテマ）がまかれていた。聞くところによると、新年のお祝いのために、まいており、大晦日と元旦はまいたままにしているらしい。各家庭でも床にまくそうだ。New Years Eve の夜には、打ち上げ花火があがり、確かにエチオピアでは新年を迎えるようだ。

オフィスもお休みなので、インターネットをしに、カフェに来たら、安倍さんが辞意表明のニュースを見てびっくり。どうなるんだろうか。。。

Addicted to the Internet!

Every weekend, I come to the “Kaldi’s coffee” for my breakfast. I usually order French toasts with syrup and the Ambo (the name of sparkling water in Ethiopia). I also like the Kaldi’s cafe latte. The reason why I come to this café so often is that I can enjoy the wireless Internet environment. Moreover, it is free of charge! Even the Starbucks in the States ask their customers for fees to access. Even in Japan, it is hard to find the café where I can enjoy the wireless. So, it is AMAZING that I can enjoy the wireless here in Addis.

Sometimes, the electricity goes off. So every time the electricity goes off, I happen to lose my Internet access. Otherwise, access is not bad. Actually it might be better than the ones at the COSI where I used to go in DC.

Well, I am so addicted to the Internet.

毎週、朝食を取りに、”Kaldi’s coffee”にやってくる。大抵、シロップがかかったフレンチ・トーストと、アンボー（エチオピアでよく飲まれている炭酸水）を頼む。ここのカフェ・ラテも好きだ。何故ここによく来るかというと、なんとここでは、ワイヤレス環境が整っているのだ。しかも無料。なので、ラップトップを持って、このカフェにやってくるという訳だ。アメリカのスターバックスでさえ、アクセスは有料。日本でだって、ワイヤレスを使えるカフェを見つけるのは容易ではない。そう考えると感動★感動★

時々停電になることがある。停電になると、インターネットにアクセス出来なくなり、カフェのBGMが聞けなくなってしまう。それ以外は、アクセスはそんなに悪くない。DCでよく行っていたカフェ、COSIよりいいぐらいだ。

どうやら私はインターネット中毒のようです。。。
