1月14日、REMAX社の出相氏の企画で「1ドルで味わえるこだわりの餅、第１回チャリティー餅つき大会」がトーランスREMAXパーキングで開催されました。協賛企業のスタッフの方々が2つの臼と杵で150バウンドものもち米をつきあげ、ボランティアの皆さんがお餅を丸めお皿に盛り、行列の参加者に次々と手渡していきました。子供達も餅つきを楽しめるようにと専用に臼と小さな杵も用意され、合間には芦原空手道場による空手、沖縄三線の演奏、ゲーム、抽選会など盛りたくさんのイベントがあり、参加者皆さん楽しいひと時を過ごされたようです。集まったお餅代そしてREMAX社様より同等金額を日本国際飢餓対策機構とNAISへ寄付をしていただきました。出相氏そして協賛企業の皆様、温かいご支援本当にありがとうございました。
“Charity Mochitsuki Event” was held at the Torrance REMAX on January 14, 2007. The staff and volunteers used three wooden pounding bowls and mallets to pound 150 pounds of sweet rice into mochi. They served the plate of mochi balls to visitors for a $1 donation. Visitors enjoyed the events that consisted of a Karate show, Okinawa Sansen music, games and raffle prizes during the ceremony. We would like to give great thanks to Mr. Deai of REMAX who planned this ceremony, companies who sponsored this event and volunteers. NAIS received the donation money from visitors for the mochi plates as well as a donation from REMAX. We greatly appreciate their support.
