Shozo Komatsu (小松省三) is a Japanese-style painter whose masterpiece is the original paintings of the wall tapestry in the Grand Bench of Supreme Court of Japan. The titles of the wall tapestries are “Sun” and “Moon”, while the original is entitled “Father and Child”.
Komatsu’s other major works include the drop curtain, entitled “The Hymn of Life”, of Niigata City Music & Culture Hall

Biography:
Born in Kazuno City, Akita Prefecture in 1938
Graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Department of Japanese Painting
Professor Emeritus, Kawamura Gakuen Woman's University
Studied under Chusaku Oyama (1922-2009), a prominent Japanese-style painter
Awarded the prizes of the Nitten, the Nisshunten, other group exhibitions/organizations
Held many solo exhibitions, often travelled abroad for studying painting
Komatsu’s work was purchased by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
