Seven Aspects of Christ when He died on the Cross

when the Lord die on the cross, He died an al-inclusive and wonderful death. there are a few aspects we could discover from the New Testament.

1. Lamb of God: who takes away the sin of the world.

John 1:29 The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!

2 Corinthians 5:21 Him who did not know sin He made sin on our behalf that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

in the gospel of John, when John the Baptist saw Jesus, he declared that the Lord Jesus is the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world. He fulfilled the type of the Passover lamb in the book of Exodus. when the Lord was being crucified on the cross, God put all the sins of the whole world upon Him, and even God counted Him as sin itself.

2. the bronze serpent: look to Jesus and we shall live!

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of Man be lifted up,

Numbers 21:4 Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the way to the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the people became impatient on the way.

Numbers 21:5 And the people spoke against God and against Moses, Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and there is no water; and our soul loathes this light bread.

Numbers 21:6 Then Jehovah sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people, so that many people of Israel died.

Numbers 21:7 And the people came to Moses and said, We have sinned, because we have spoken against Jehovah and against you; pray to Jehovah, that He may take away the serpents from us. So Moses prayed for the people.

Numbers 21:8 Then Jehovah said to Moses, Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and everyone who is bitten, when he sees it, shall live.

Numbers 21:9 And Moses made a bronze serpent and set it on the pole; and if a serpent had bitten any man, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived.

in John chapter 3, the Lord Jesus refered to Himself as the bronze serpent. this story goes back to the book of Numbers. when Moses was leading the children of Israel in the wilderness, they complained and murmured again. and Jehovah sent fiery serpents to bite, and those who were bitten died. Moses prayed to Jehovah, and Jehovah commanded Moses to make a bronze serpent and set it on the pole. whoever looked at the serpent shall live. now in the New Testament, the Lord Jesus came and died as the bronze serpent. if we are willing to look at this bronze serpent, we shall also live. what is today's way to look at Him? we believe into the Lord and receive Him as our Lord and Savior. the Lord said in John 14:19 " Yet a little while and the world beholds Me no longer, but you behold Me; because I live, you also shall live."

3. grain of wheat: life multiplication and reproduction

John 12:24 Truly, truly, I say to you, Unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it abides alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.

according to the law of nature, one seed falls into the earth and the shell of the seed breaks, then it will come out to be a plant, a flower, a crop, etc. but the main thing is that the seed first needs to die and be broken, then life within this seed will be able to be released, to grow, and finally blossom. the Lord Jesus used this as an illustration to show us His way to gain many believers as the children of God is also through death and resurrection, so that the divine life will multiply, reproduce, and bear much fruit.

4. man in the flesh: condemn sin in the flesh

Romans 8:3 For that which the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God, sending His own Son in the likeness of the flesh of sin and concerning sin, condemned sin in the flesh,

in His incarnation, the Lord Jesus put on humanity, He was sent by the Father in the likeness of the flesh of sin, so that when He died on the cross, God can deal with the sin in the flesh, to condemn sin. this is the multifarious wisdom of God.

5. the last Adam: man in the old creation

Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man has been crucified with Him in order that the body of sin might be annulled, that we should no longer serve sin as slaves;

1 Conrinthians 15:45 So also it is written, "The first man, Adam, became a living soul''; the last Adam became a life-giving Spirit.

Christ is the last Adam, which means that there will be no more Adam, which is the good news to us. Christ is the end of the old creation. He came as the last Adam, to terminate the entire old creation.

6. Firstborn of all creation

Colossians 1:15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn of all creation,

Christ is the Firstborn, so that He has preeminence in all creation. Christ has the first place in all things.

7. Peacemaker:

Ephesians 2:14 For He Himself is our peace, He who has made both one and has broken down the middle wall of partition, the enmity,

Ephesians 2:15 Abolishing in His flesh the law of the commandments in ordinances, that He might create the two in Himself into one new man, so making peace,
