Every Saturday morning I listen
to the radio English program "eigo-monoshiri-kurabu."
This morning I heard a song "The End of the World"
in the program.
"It is one of the famous songs in 1960s,"
said Prof. Ohsugi in the program.
Do you know the song? I'm afraid I don't.
------------------------------------
The End of the World--
words by Sylvia Dee
music by Arthur Kent
singer, Skeeter Davis
Why does the sun go on shining
Why does the sea rush to shore
don't they know it's the end of the world
'Cause you don't love me anymore
Why do the birds go on singing
Why do the stars glow above
Don't they know it's the end of the world
It ended when I lost your love
------------------------------------
Yes, I felt as if it were the end of the world
when my husband died young. at the age of 33.
I was wondering why people could laugh cheerfully.
eat with relish, chat vivaciously and walk on briskly.
Now I can say to everybody, "It's not the end of
the world."
