Mix the water and brown sugar together in a small saucepan and bring to a boil over medium-high heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved, then remove from heat and let cool. Stir 3/4 cup of this simple syrup into the nut liqueur. Seal and store in a cool, dark cabinet. Use within 1 year. Sazarac is my go-to rye whiskey when I'm at an unfamiliar bar.
