Both TOEIC & TOEFL will employ
a new examination form from 2006.
ETS(a non-profit organization to make test quizzes in America) has announced on Monday, December 12 that both TOEIC & TOEFL will additionally adopt English composition and speaking abilities tests since 2006.
The main reason is that it has often happened so far and has been criticized that even examinees who succeeded to get high points in both tests can’t actually speak English smoothly.

朝日新聞・１２月１３日・夕刊によれば、TOEIC & TOEFL問題を作成している機関が、２００６年より、いずれのテストについても、英作文問題やスピーキング・テストなども加え、さらに実践的な能力を問う問題に重点を置くと発表しました。
理由は、これまで、それらのテストで高得点をとっても、実際には話せない場合があるとの批判を受け続けたため、改良することにしたからだそうです。
