Deloitte to Pay Malaysia $80 Million in 1MDB-Related Settlement

デロイトが、マレーシア政府に80百万ドルを支払うことに合意したという記事。巨額不正流用事件が起きたマレーシアの政府系ファンド「１ＭＤＢ」やその前身であるSRC Internationalの監査に関するものです。

Deloitte PLT agreed to a 324-million ringgit ($80 million) settlement with the Malaysian government to resolve all claims related to the firm’s audit of 1MDB and its former unit SRC International between 2011-2014.

監査事務所による１MDB事件関連の和解額としては、最大のものとのことです。

The payout is the largest 1MDB-related settlement by an audit firm in Southeast Asia, the Finance Ministry said in a statement Wednesday. It comes less than a week after a local lender agreed to a 2.83-billion ringgit settlement over its involvement in transactions related to the state investment company.

デロイトといっても、現地のDeloitte PLTという事務所が支払うようなので、かなりの負担になるのではないでしょうか。

マレーシア政府は、KPMGとも和解交渉を行っているそうです。

MoF in settlement talks with KPMG over 1MDB scandal（The Star）

The Finance Ministry (MoF) is negotiating a settlement with audit firm KPMG in relation to the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB), (pic) according to sources.

“The government has started negotiations on the settlement with KPMG. The process is ongoing, ” said a source.

１MDBの監査人は何度も交代しているようです。EY→KPMG→デロイト、という順番です。KPMGが意見表明を拒否した後にデロイトが監査人となっているので、デロイトの責任が重そうです。

KPMG was involved with 1MDB after Ernst & Young (EY) was terminated as the auditor of 1MDB’s accounts in 2010. KPMG took over in September 2010 and signed off on 1MDB’s financial year 2010 (FY10), FY11 and FY12 accounts.

However, the audit firm refused to sign off on the accounts for FY13 and it was replaced by Deloitte until 2016.

EYは、早く抜けることができて助かったということでしょうか。
