サクラ前線

こんにちは。今日は英語のお話です。

東京で桜が開花したとのニュース。
桜前線が秋田に届くのが待ち遠しくなってきました。

ニュースで耳にする「桜前線」という言葉、
英語の表現を探してみると、
　the cherry blossom front, Sakura Zensen
　the sakura front
などと表現されています。

“front”　は、「前面、正面」　という意味がおなじみですが、
寒冷前線　cold (weather) front
温暖前線　warm (weather) front
梅雨前線　Baiu front / Mei-yu front
のように「～前線」という時に使われています。

When will the cherry blossom front reach Akita?
（秋田に桜前線が到着するのはいつでしょうか）

I'm looking forward to viewing an ocean of beautiful
cherry blossoms in full bloom.
（まるで海のように続く美しい満開の桜を見るのが楽しみです）
