日本2018 (Japan 2018, vol.49)

皆様、いかがお過ごしでしょうか？
How's your day going?



さて、Hit-chan、日本に帰ってきたら必ずやるようにしている事があるんですが、今回も行ってきました。
So, whenever I come back to Japan, I always try to do this chore here and I got it done this time too.




京都駅近くのヨドバシカメラの横。
The building is right by Yodobashi Camera shop near Kyoto station.




そう、免許更新です。
Yeah, it's a driving license renewal office.




京都の人はお分かりかと思うんですが、免許更新といえばいつも行きにくい場所にある免許試験場まで行かないといけなかったんですが、なんとなんと、京都駅近くでできるなんて！
I assume people living in Kyoto would know this, but the DVS office that I used to have to go was in a very inconvenience area. Though, they newly opened this office near Kyoto station which became super convenient to get to.




優良運転者や高齢運転者の免許更新は、京都駅近くの免許更新センターという場所でできるようになっていたのです！
Still, at this new office, only superior or elderly drivers can renew their licenses.
(Superior drivers mean the ones who hasn't got any ticket or accident.)




いやぁ、Hit-chanもちろん日本では運転しないので、ゴールド免許。
Yeah, I'm a superior driver since I don't drive in Japan!




なので、行ってきました。
So, I went to this new office this time.




午前と午後の2回、受付時間があるのですが、Hit-chanは午後1時からの受付に間に合うように行きました。
They accept your applications twice a day in the morning and the afternoon and they open the office at 1pm for the afternoon, so I got there 30mins before.









まだ早かったので人はいません。
It's pretty early and nobody else was there.








人がもっと来る前にトイレを済ませようと行ったんですが、トイレでギョッとする張り紙を発見してしまいました。

Before it got busy, I used the bathroom, but I saw this very strange sign there.





「最近、トイレの個室内で床に排便する悪質な者がいます。」
"There's a very rude person who stools on the floor in the bathroom lately."




本当、建物自体新しくて、トイレも凄く綺麗にしてらっしゃるのに、何で？？！！
The building itself was brand new and so clean, so it's too bad someone did such a heartless thing.




そういう癖の人がいるんでしょうか。。。
Does anyone have such a weird habit or something?




で、受付時間が近づいてきたら徐々に人も増えてきたんですが、それでもやはり、もう一つの免許試験場に比べたらかなり少ないです。
So, when it got closer to the open time, more people were coming in the office. Still, compared to the old office, the number of people in the line was much less.



Hit-chan、ちゃっかり前から5番目くらいに並んでいたので、無事最初の講習を受ける事ができました。
I was 5th in the line and could take the first class.
(In Japan, you have to take a 30min-2hour class when renewing your driver's license.)





無事、平成35年まで大丈夫になりました。
Yay! I got my license renewed till 2023!



で、免許を更新した後は、折角京都駅に来ているという事で、Andyっちと待ち合わせしました。
After I got the big chore done, I met up with Andy at this familiar place.




日本に来てからかなり通っているアイリッシュパブ、Man In The Moonだよ。
Yeah, Andy's favorite bar in Japan, "Man In The Moon".









で、Andyっち、この日はここのメニューの中で見つけて、帰る前に絶対飲もうと決めてたものを注文。
On that day, he finally ordered this which he'd wanted to try before he left Japan？




竹鶴30年ものです。
It's Japanese Whisky, Taketsuru 30years.




ウィスキー好きのAndyっち、今回の滞在でも結構な数を購入したんですが、さすがに竹鶴30年はボトルだと30万くらいするので、手が出なかったんですねぇ。
Andy's a huge fan of Whisky and he already got some bottles during this trip, but Taketsuru 30years was about $3000 and he couldn't afford it.





これで15000円くらいだったかな？
I think it was about $150 for a glass.


Andyっち、満足しておりました。
So, he's so pleased to try this rare brand.




あと、Man In The Moon、この少し前に改修工事をされていて、前回来て貼ったお札がどこに行ったのか分からなくなってたので、また新しいのを書いて貼っておきました。(笑)
Oh yeah, they actually remodeled the place a little bit and we couldn't find the $1 bill we put before, so we put another one. Hehe.




という訳で、この日は日本帰国での大きな用事が一つ無事終わってホッとしました。
