Girl group MAMAMOO wins seven music show awards

Following their six awards on the 15th, MAMAMOO won seven awards on the 16th.

MAMAMOO took first place on SBS MTV's "The Show" broadcast at 8 p.m. on the 15th. On the cable channel MBC Music's "Show Champion" broadcast on the 16th, MAMAMOO's "You're Best at Everything" was chosen as No. 1, beating out Wendy & Eric Nam, Lee Hi, Jimin, Taemin, and others.

MAMAMOO, who was unable to attend the broadcast due to their schedule in the US, said in a video, "We are very grateful for the big award of No. 1," and "We'd like to thank our parents, our fans, and the staff who work hard for us."

MAMAMOO will take to the stage at the K-Pop Night Out at South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, at 7:30pm on the 16th (local time) to sing "You're Best at Everything," "Um Oh Ah Yeh," "Piano Man," and more.

Young girls are on a roll.

Until recently, GFRIEND's (Rough) was a big hit and kept other music at bay.

After achieving the feat of 15 awards, it seemed like they had surpassed TWICE and OH MY GIRL as the next generation of girls to lead the way.

However, it seems that this is no longer the case.

Replacing GFRIEND, MAMAMOO appeared with "You're Best at Everything," and before you knew it, they had already achieved seven awards.

Hmm, who would have thought that things would turn out this way... it's really hard to predict what will happen next.

I had noticed them early on as a group with good singing.

However, I couldn't get used to their songs even when watching them on YouTube, so I thought they were below the groups mentioned above.

No matter how good a singer is, if they don't sell, it's all that much.

They're only in their twenties and have this kind of singing ability, so maybe they'll be able to make some money thanks to their youth.

Even if they do become popular, I thought it would be temporary and not last long.

Even if they're good singers, their visuals as idols are a little lacking.

To maintain the popularity they've gained through music, familiarity and the visuals to support it are also important weapons.

I thought MAMAMOO's popularity was just a passing fad.

However, now that they've won seven awards, it seems we have no choice but to honestly acknowledge their singing ability and their enduring popularity.

However, it is true that attention has been given to young girls, and groups such as GFRIEND, TWICE, and OH MY GIRL, which are said to lead the next generation, can no longer rest on their laurels due to the rise of unique girls.

It may be safe to say that AOA and Apink have somehow managed to secure a certain level of popularity.

However, I have a feeling that other mid-level girls will be caught up in the vortex of up-and-coming girls.

It is inevitable that the vortex of competing heroes will draw in weaker vortices and gain power.

It seems likely that one of the girls mentioned above will grow big, while another will fade and disappear.

With the departure of the giants, Girls' Generation, which girl will take the lead in their place?

With the departure of the giants, we can expect the emergence of new stars with a bright light, but will that happen?

The arrival of MAMAMOO may be seen as a broadening of the horizons for the world of girl groups.
