As an Android Partnerships team member, you keep Android's meteoric growth going. You work closely with Android Product, Engineering, Marketing and Legal teams on new initiatives and strategic relationships. You don't just execute; you're a true thought leader who can see multiple steps ahead and identify industry trends and key influencers. As the Strategic Partner Development Manager, SEA, you are responsible for leading and negotiating Android-related distribution and business for Google services with manufacturers, mobile networks, electronics retailers and other entities participating in the creation and distribution of Android devices and services. Initially focused on smartphones and tablets, you will also have the opportunity to work with industry leading Google partners to secure broad distribution of Android devices with Google services, managing and nurturing those relationships on an ongoing basis. You have strong negotiation and partnering skills and specific experience with mobile carriers, mobile or CE manufacturers, and retailers. John Wilkes spent a year negotiating his move to Google, and when he finally agreed to join the company, he still didn’t know what he’d be working on.Wilkes was recruited by a Googler named Bill Coughran — who had joined the web giant after years as a researcher at the famed Bell Labs — and he knew he’d be working alongside people a lot like Coughran. He was joining a team stacked with top computer science researchers, many poached from the leading corporate labs of the pre-internet age, including Bell Labs and Xerox PARC and HP Labs, where Wilkes himself had worked since the early ’80s.
