昨年同様今年も宮城ゲストハウス宿や萩をよろしくお願いします
さて昨日は仙台のお祭り どんと祭が行われました。
今年は宿を代表氏してトーマスに行ってもらいましたのでトーマスのレポートをどうぞ

Yesterday I went to the Donto festival in Sendai. I arrived in Sendai on the 20th of December, and this is my first time in Japan. Also, this was the very first festival that I have been to in Japan, so I didn't know what to expect.
Firstly, I was suprised to see many half-naked man wearing white clothes walking around the city. I come from a place in Australia where the lowest temperature is rarely bellow 10 degrees, but here, it is often bellow 0; so I imagine those people would have been quite cold. Before leaving to the actual festival, the owner gave me some kind of straw decorative item, which I was told to throw into the fire.

I'm still not sure why, perhaps the straw had an evil spirit in it? If I could speak Japanese better, I'd ask. Surrounding the fire were small shops selling various kinds of food. There were many, many people there buying food, but I managed to buy and eat a soba noodle omelet--which was very tasty. But there were even more people at the nearby shrine, so many in fact that I had no interest in joining in.
Obviously, Japan is all new to me so I don't understand the traditions or the culture as much as I'd like to yet. But partaking in this event was certainly fun.
