昨日のことになるが、パレスチナの西岸地区と Gaza 地区で 暫定政府（PA）を占める Fatah と Hamas の内部抗争を止めることを求める抗議デモが行われた。

表面上、Fatah と Hamas の対立が表面化したのは、2006年1月の選挙結果（Hamas が議会で単独過半数の議席を獲得した）後だったりする。
（実際は、もっと根の深い問題だけど）
この結果に反発した米国や EU＋日本などは、Hamas 政権への支援を凍結。
支援凍結でパレスチナの人達の生活が苦しくなる中、2007年6月になって Hamas は Gaza地区にいた Fatah のメンバーを殺害・追放し Gaza 地区を実効支配するに至る・・・。

で、今に至るまで Fatah と Hamas は事あるごとに対立を続けてる結果、イスラエルや米国に対してまともに話すらできない始末。

Dozens of policemen stationed the streets to organize the traffic in order not to leave casualties among demonstrators, while 300 Palestinian youths slept in tents set up in the square since Monday evening.
All Palestinian factions insisted to exert their efforts to achieve their goals and to end the internal division.
